01. परिचय

धनतेरस का त्यौहार दीपावली आने की पूर्व सूचना देता है। इस दिन भगवान धन्वंतरि क्षीरसागर से अमृत का कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे। धनतेरस के दिन दीर्घायु और स्वस्थ जीवन की कामना से भगवान धन्वंतरि का पूजन पूरे हर्षोल्लास से किया जाता है। जब देवताओं के वैद्य भगवान धन्वंतरि समुद्र मंथन के पश्चात प्रकट हुए थे, तब उनके हाथ में अमृत से भरा कलश था। तब से ही धनतेरस के दिन बर्तन खरीदने की परंपरा शुरू हुई

धनतेरस के दिन बर्तनों के अलावा सोने और चांदी के गहने तथा महंगी धातुओं के समान भी खरीदे जाते हैं। धनतेरस को धन त्रयोदशी व धनवंतरी जयंती के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इसी दिन से दीपावली के पंच दिवसीय पंचपर्व की शुरुआत होती है। माना जाता है कि इस दिन से ही माता लक्ष्मीजी और कुबेरजी का वास हमारे घरों में हो जाता है। इस दिन यमदेव की भी पूजा की जाती है और यमराज को दीपदान भी किया जाता है।

02. धनतेरस पूजन की तिथि और मुहूर्त

इस वर्ष 2024 में धनतेरस 29 अक्टूबर दिन मंगलवार को मनाया जाएगा। पूजन का मुहूर्त शाम 06:33 से रात्रि 08:45 तक है। इसी बीच खरीदारी और पूजन करना चाहिए।

03. पूजन का विधि विधान

धनतेरस के दिन प्रातः समय में हल्दी, चंदन आदि का उबटन लगाकर स्नान करना चाहिए। उसके पश्चात संध्याकाल में भगवान धन्वंतरि का षोडशोपचार पूजन करना चाहिए। भगवान धन्वंतरि के साथ कुबेरजी एवं माता लक्ष्मीजी का भी पूजन करना चाहिए। शाम के समय घर के मुख्यद्वार और आंगन में दीप जलाने चाहिए। संध्या के पश्चात यम देवता के निमित्त दक्षिण दिशा में दीप का दान करना चाहिए। ऐसा करने से अकाल मृत्यु के भय से मुक्ति मिलती है।

04. धनतेरस के दिन क्या खरीदें?

धनतेरस के दिन नए बर्तन, पीतल के कलश, सोने चांदी के आभूषण, वैभव की वस्तुएं और नए वस्त्रों को खरीदना शुभ माना जाता है। इसके अलावा इस दिन विशेष तौर पर साबुत धनिया, फूलझाड़ू खरीदना शुभ रहता है। इस दिन काले और नीले रंग की वस्तुएं, चीनी मिट्टी के सामान, अल्युमिनियम और लोहे की धातु से बनी चीजों को नहीं खरीदना चाहिए। फूलझाड़ू को भी हमेशा विषम संख्या में ही खरीदना चाहिए। ऐसा कहते हैं कि हमारे घर की झाड़ू घर की सफाई करके नकारात्मकता दूर करती है और लक्ष्मीजी का स्वागत करने में सहायता करती है। इसलिए इस दिन झाड़ू विशेष तौर पर फूलझाड़ू खरीदने का विशेष प्रावधान है।

05. यमदेव के पूजन का पौराणिक सन्दर्भ

एक बार यमराज ने अपने यमदूतों से पूछा कि क्या कभी तुम्हें प्राणियों के प्राणों का हरण करते समय किसी पर दया उमड़ी है? तो वें संकोच में पड़कर बोले, नहीं महाराज! हमें दयाभाव से क्या मतलब? हम तो बस आपकी आज्ञा का पालन करने में लगे रहते हैं। जब यमराज ने उनसे बार-बार यही प्रश्न किया तब उन्होंने संकोच छोड़कर यह बताया कि एक बार ऐसी घटना घटी थी जिससे हमारा हृदय भी कांप उठा था। हिम नामक एक राजा की पत्नी ने जब एक पुत्र को जन्म दिया तब ज्योतिषियों ने नक्षत्र की गणना करके बताया कि यह बालक जब भी विवाह करेगा उसके चार दिन के बाद ही मर जाएगा।

यह जानकर राजा ने उस बालक को स्त्रियों की छाया तक से बचाने के लिए यमुना नदी के तट पर एक गुफा में ब्रह्मचारी के रूप में पालकर बड़ा किया। संयोगवश, एक दिन जब महाराज हंस की पुत्री यमुना के तट पर घूम रही थी तो उस ब्रह्मचारी राजकुमार ने उस पर मोहित होकर उससे गंधर्व विवाह कर लिया। किंतु विवाह के चार दिन पूरे होते ही राजकुमार की मृत्यु हो गई। अपने पति की मृत्यु देखकर उसकी पत्नी बिलख-बिलखकर रोने लगी। उस नव विवाहता का गरुड़ विलाप सुनकर हमारा हृदय भी कांप उठा। हमने जीवन में कभी भी ऐसी सुंदर जोड़ी नहीं देखी थी। वे दोनों साक्षात कामदेव व रति के अवतार मालूम होते थे। उस राजकुमार के प्राण हरण करते समय हमारे आंसू नहीं रुक रहे थे।

यह सुनकर यमराज ने कहा, क्या करें विधि के विधान के अनुसार उसकी मर्यादा निभाकर हमें ऐसे अप्रिय कार्य करने ही पड़ते हैं। फिर एक यमदूत ने उत्सुकतावश यमराज से पूछा, महाराज क्या अकाल मृत्यु से बचने का कोई भी उपाय नहीं है? ।यमराज बोले, हां उपाय तो है। अकाल मृत्यु से छुटकारा पाने के लिए व्यक्ति को धनतेरस के दिन पूजन और दीपदान विधिपूर्वक करना चाहिए इससे अकाल मृत्यु का भय नहीं रहता है। इस कथा के पश्चात धनतेरस के दिन यम को दीपदान करने और उनका पूजन करने का प्रचलन प्रारंभ हुआ।

01. Introduction

The festival of Dhanteras gives advance information about the arrival of Diwali. On this day, Lord Dhanvantari appeared from Kshirsagar with a pot of nectar. On the day of Dhanteras, Lord Dhanvantari is worshipped with great joy with the wish of long life and healthy life. When Lord Dhanvantari, the physician of the gods, appeared after the churning of the ocean, he had a pot full of nectar in his hand. Since then the tradition of buying utensils on the day of Dhanteras started.

Apart from utensils, gold and silver jewelry and expensive metals are also purchased on the day of Dhanteras. Dhanteras is also known as Dhan Trayodashi and Dhanvantari Jayanti. From this day the five-day Panchparva of Diwali begins. It is believed that from this day onwards Mother Lakshmi and Kuberji reside in our homes. On this day, Yamdev is also worshiped and lamps are also donated to Yamraj.

02. Date and auspicious time of Dhanteras worship

This year in 2024, Dhanteras will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 29. The auspicious time for worship is from 06:33 pm to 08:45 pm. Shopping and worship should be done during this time.

03. Method of worship

On the day of Dhanteras, one should take a bath in the morning by applying a paste of turmeric, sandalwood etc. After that, Shodashopachar worship of Lord Dhanvantari should be done in the evening. Along with Lord Dhanvantari, Kuberji and Mother Lakshmi should also be worshipped. In the evening, lamps should be lit at the main entrance and courtyard of the house. After evening, a lamp should be donated in the south direction for Yam Devta. By doing this, one gets freedom from the fear of untimely death.

04. What to buy on Dhanteras?

On the day of Dhanteras, it is considered auspicious to buy new utensils, brass urns, gold and silver ornaments, luxury items and new clothes. Apart from this, it is especially auspicious to buy whole coriander and flower broom on this day. Black and blue colored items, porcelain items, aluminum and iron metal items should not be bought on this day. Flower brooms should also always be bought in odd numbers. It is said that the broom of our house cleans the house and removes negativity and helps in welcoming Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, there is a special provision to buy brooms and especially flower brooms on this day.

05. Mythological reference of Yamdev’s worship

Once Yamraj asked his Yamdoots whether they ever felt pity for someone while taking away the lives of living beings? Then they said hesitantly, No Maharaj! What do we have to do with pity? We just keep on following your orders. When Yamraj asked him the same question again and again, he left his hesitation and told that once such an incident had happened which had made even our heart tremble. When the wife of a king named Him gave birth to a son, the astrologers calculated the stars and told that whenever this child would get married, he would die within four days.

Knowing this, the king raised that child as a brahmachari in a cave on the banks of river Yamuna to protect him from even the shadow of women. Coincidentally, one day when the daughter of Maharaj Hans was roaming on the banks of Yamuna, that celibate prince got attracted to her and married her in Gandharva style. But after four days of marriage, the prince died. Seeing her husband’s death, his wife started crying bitterly. Hearing the Garuda lamentation of that newly married woman, our heart also trembled. We had never seen such a beautiful couple in our life. Both of them looked like incarnations of Kaamdev and Rati. Our tears were not stopping while taking away the life of that prince.

Hearing this, Yamraj said, what to do, we have to do such unpleasant tasks by fulfilling the rules of the law. Then a Yamdoot asked Yamraj out of curiosity, Maharaj, is there no way to avoid untimely death? Yamraj said, yes there is a way. To get rid of untimely death, a person should worship and give lamps properly on the day of Dhanteras, this will not cause fear of untimely death. After this story, the practice of giving lamps to Yam and worshipping him on the day of Dhanteras started.

भारतीय वैदिक सनातन ज्योतिष में केतुग्रह को एक अशुभ ग्रह माना जाता है। लेकिन ऐसा भी कहना सही नहीं है कि केतुदेव के द्वारा जातक को हमेशा ही बुरे फल प्राप्त होते हैं। केतुग्रह के द्वारा जातक को अत्यधिक शुभ फल भी प्राप्त होते हैं। यह एकमात्र ग्रह आध्यात्म मार्ग, वैराग्य प्रणाली, मोक्ष निष्ठा, सात्विक तांत्रिक क्रियाओं आदि का कारक होता है। ज्योतिष विद्या में केतुग्रह को किसी भी राशि का स्वामित्व प्राप्त नहीं है। लेकिन धनु(9) राशि केतुदेव की उच्च राशि होती है, जबकि मिथनु(3) राशि में यह ग्रह नीच भाव को प्राप्त होता है। वहीं 27 नक्षत्रों में केतुग्रह अश्विनी नक्षत्र, मघा नक्षत्र और मूल नक्षत्र के स्वामी होते हैं। राहुग्रह की भांति यह भी एक छाया ग्रह है। वैदिक शास्त्रों के अनुसार केतुग्रह स्वरभानु राक्षस का धड़ है। जबकि इसके सिर वाले भाग को राहु कहा जाता है।

सनातन ज्योतिष विद्या के अनुसार केतुग्रह व्यक्ति के जीवन क्षेत्र तथा समस्त सृष्टि को भी प्रभावित करता है। राहुदेव और केतुदेव दोनों लग्न जन्म कुण्डली में कालसर्प नामक दोष का निर्माण करते हैं। वहीं आकाश मंडल में केतुदेव का प्रभाव वायव्य कोण नामक दिशा में माना गया है। कुछ अनुभवी ज्योतिष विद्वानों का ऐसा मानना है कि केतुग्रह की कुछ विशेष परिस्थितियों के कारण जातक अपने जीवन में यश के शिखर तक अवश्य पहुँच सकता है। राहुदेव और केतुदेव के कारण सूर्य ग्रहण और चंद्र ग्रहण होता है।

जैसा की स्पष्ट है कि जब केतुग्रह की कोई निश्चित राशि नहीं होती इसलिए केतुग्रह जिस भी राशि में बैठता है वह उसी के अनुरूप फल देता है। इसलिए केतुग्रह का प्रथम भाव अथवा लग्न में फल को वहाँ स्थित राशि पूर्णतः प्रभावित करती है। कुछ ज्योतिष विद्वानों का ऐसा भी मानना है कि कुंडली में प्रथम भाव का केतुग्रह जातक को साधू बना देता है। यह जातकों को कलयुग के समस्त भौतिक सुखों से बहुत दूर ले जाता है। इसके विषम प्रभाव से जातक केवल अकेले रहना ही पसंद करता है। वहीं दूसरी तरफ यदि लग्न(प्रथम) भाव में वृश्चिक(8) राशि हो तो जातक को इसके सम और सकारात्मक प्रभाव एवम परिणाम भी देखने को मिलते हैं।

वैदिक सनातन ज्योतिष में राहुग्रह को एक पापी ग्रह जाना जाता है। वैदिक ज्योतिष में राहुग्रह को कारक के आधार पर अत्यंत कठोर वाणी, सट्टा/जुआ, निरर्थक यात्राएँ, चोरी की दुषभावना, पापकर्म/दुष्टकर्म, गंभीर त्वचा के रोग, लंबी धार्मिक यात्राएँ आदि का सीधा कारक समझा जाता है। जिस भी जातक की लग्न कुंडली में राहुग्रह अशुभ स्थान पर बैठे हुए हों, या किसी भी अवस्था में पीड़ित हो गए हों तो जातक को इस कारण से अपने पूर्ण जीवन में राहुग्रह के नकारात्मक परिणाम प्राप्त होते हैं। ज्योतिष विद्या के अनुसार राहुग्रह को किसी भी राशि का स्वामित्व प्राप्त नहीं है। लेकिन गोचर और लग्न कुंडली में मिथुन राशि(3) में यह उच्च प्रभावी हो जाता है और धनु राशि(9) में यह नीच प्रभावी हो जाता है।

27 नक्षत्रों में राहुदेव आद्रा नक्षत्र, स्वाति नक्षत्र और शतभिषा नक्षत्रों के स्वामी जाने जाते हैं। ज्योतिष विद्या के अनुसार राहुग्रह को एक छाया ग्रह कहा जाता है क्योंकि यह एक छलावा है। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि जब सूर्यदेव और पृथ्वी के बीच जब चंद्रदेव आ जाते हैं और चंद्रदेव का मुख सूर्यदेवकी तरफ होता है तो पृथ्वी पर पड़ने वाली चंद्रमा की छाया राहुग्रह का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है। अर्थात चंद्रमा के कारण ही राहुग्रह को अस्तित्व प्राप्त है लेकिन केवल छाया के रूप में।

वैदिक ज्योतिष के अनुसार जिस भी जातक की लग्न जन्म कुंडली में प्रथम(लग्न) भाव में राहु बैठा होता है तो प्रभाव अनुसार वह जातक सुंदर छवि और आकर्षक व्यक्तित्व का स्वामी होता है। ऐसा जातक कभी भी साहसिक कार्यों से पीछे नहीं हटता है लेकिन कभी कभार अत्यंत डरपोक भी बन जाता है। अगर सामने मजबूत लग्न और लग्न में ही तकतवार मंगल बैठा हुआ हो तो फिर राहु वाला जातक उससे भय भी रखता है। लग्न का राहु व्यक्ति को समाज में प्रभावशाली तो बनाता है लेकिन, सीधे मार्गों से धन कम ही दिलवाता है। हालाँकि इसके प्रभाव बहुत हद तक लग्न में स्थित राशि पर भी निर्भर करते हैं। हालाँकि ज्योतिष परंपरा के अनुसार ऐसा माना जाता है कि लग्न का राहु व्यक्ति के वैवाहिक जीवन के लिए बिलकुल भी अच्छा नहीं होता है क्योंकि उसकी सीधी दृष्टि सीधे तौर पर सातवें भाव को प्रभावित करती रहती है।

करवा चौथ का पर्व पतिदेव के सुख और अखंड सौभाग्य हेतु सभी सुहागिन स्त्रियां बड़ी श्रद्धा और आस्था के साथ मनाती हैं। इस दिन सभी विवाहित स्त्रियां निराहार रहकर अपने पति के दीर्घायु और समृद्धिशाली होने की कामना करते हुए उपवास करतीं हैं और शिव परिवार सहित चन्द्रदेव की पूजा करती हैं। ऐसी मान्यता है कि इस व्रत को करने से पतिसुख, सन्तान सुख, धन-धान्य और सौभाग्य में वृद्धि होती है।

01. कब मनाया जाता है करवा चौथ?

करवा चौथ कार्तिक मास की कृष्णपक्ष की चतुर्थी तिथि को मनाया जाता है। इस दिन मिट्टी के करवों में गेहूं, दूध, शक्कर, जल, तांबे या चांदी का सिक्का डालते हैं और भगवान का पूजन करते हैं, इसलिए इसे करवा चौथ कहते हैं। वर्ष 2024 में करवा चौथ का व्रत दिन रविवार, 20 अक्टूबर को है। चंद्रोदय मुहूर्त सांय लगभग 07 बजकर 40 मिनट पर होगा।

02. करवा चौथ की धार्मिक मान्यता

नारद पुराण में वर्णन है कि कार्तिक कृष्णपक्ष की चतुर्थी को “करका चतुर्थी” व्रत करने का विधान है। यहां “करका” का अर्थ मिट्टी का एक छोटा पात्र होता है। यह सात्विक व्रत केवल स्त्रियों के लिए है। इसमें स्त्री को स्नानादि के बाद सुंदर वस्त्र और आभूषणों से सुसज्जित होकर भगवान गणेश, शिव और गौरी की पूजा करने का निर्देश दिया गया है।

कहा जाता है कि देवों और असुरों के बीच हुए युद्ध के समय अपने अपने पतियों की रक्षा के लिए सभी देवियों नें ब्रह्माजी से इस व्रत का उपदेश लिया था। वैसे, इस व्रत की परंपरा माता पार्वती ने प्रारंभ की थी। इसके अतिरिक्त महाभारत काल में माता कुंती ने इस व्रत अनुष्ठान को द्रौपदी को सौंपा था। अतः इस व्रत में सुहागिन महिलाएं अपनी सास का आशीर्वाद ज़रूर लेती हैं।

03. पूजन का विधि-विधान

व्रत रखने वाली स्त्री प्रातः काल नित्यकर्मों से निवृत्त होकर, स्नान आदि करके आचमन के बाद व्रत का संकल्प लेती हैं। यह व्रत निराहार ही नहीं बल्कि निर्जला के रूप में करना अधिक फलप्रद माना जाता है। कई स्थानों पर प्रातः व्रत से पहले भोर में सरगी करने का प्रचलन है। यह सरगी सास अपनी बहू को देतीं हैं।। सरगी में फलाहारी खाद्यान्न दिया जाता है।

इस व्रत में शिव दरबार और चन्द्र देव की पूजा करने का विधान है। इनका षोडशोपचार पूजन किया जाता है और मिट्टी के करवों में मिष्ठान, धान्य, दूध, शर्करा आदि भरकर सुहाग की सामग्री की पिटारी रखी जाती है। फिर दिनभर निर्जला व्रत रखकर शाम को चंद्रोदय के समय सभी व्रती महिलाएं व्रत की कथा सुनती हैं और छलनी से चन्द्र दर्शन करके चंद्रमा को अर्घ्य देती हैं। फिर पूजन आरती करके पति के हाथों अपना व्रत खोलती हैं। फिर अंत में अपनी सास को भेंट देकर उनके पांव छूती है और उनसे अखंड सौभाग्य प्राप्ति का आशीर्वाद लेती हैं।

04. व्रत की कथा

एकं साहूकार के सात लड़के और एक लड़की थी। सेठानी सहित उसकी बेटी और बहुओं नें करवा चौथ का व्रत रखा था। रात्रि को साहूकार के लड़के भोजन करने लगे तो उन्होंने अपने बहन से भोजन के करने लिए कहा। बहन ने कहा भाई अभी चांद नहीं निकला है। चांद के निकलने पर अर्घ्य देकर ही भोजन करूंगी। बहन की बात सुनकर भाइयों ने एक काम किया कि नगर से बाहर जाकर अग्नि जला दी और छलनी ले जाकर उसमें से प्रकाश दिखाते हुए उन्होंने बहन से कहा कि देखो बहन, चांद निकल आया है। अर्घ्य देकर के भोजन कर लो।

यह सुनकर उसने अपने भाभियों से कहा की आओ तुम भी चंद्रमा को अर्घ्य दे दो। भाभियों को अपने पतियों की चालाकी का पता था। वह अर्घ्य देने नहीं आई। उन्होंने अपनी ननद को बता दिया कि तेरे भाई तेरे से धोखा करके छलनी से प्रकाश दिखा रहे हैं। फिर भी बहन ने कुछ भी ध्यान ना दिया और छलनी से प्रकाश देखकर अर्घ्य दे दिया। इस प्रकार व्रत भंग करने से गणेशजी बहुत अप्रसन्न हो गए। इसके बाद उसका पति बहुत अधिक बीमार हो गया और उसकी सारी संपत्ति बीमारी में खर्च हो गई।

बाद में जब साहूकार की लड़की को अपने किए हुए दोषों का पता चला तो उसने बहुत पश्चात्ताप किया। फिर गणेशजी से प्रार्थना करते हुए पूर्ण विधि-विधान से पुनः चतुर्थी का व्रत किया और दान-दक्षिणा आदि प्रदान करी। श्रद्धाभक्ति सहित कर्म को देखकर भगवान गणेश उस पर प्रसन्न हुए और पुनः उसके पति को जीवनदान देकर उसे आरोग्य और धन संपत्ति वापस प्रदान कर दी।

In the year 2024, the fasting day of Karva Chauth is on Sunday, October 20. Chandraodaya Muhurta will be at around 07:40 pm.

02. Religious belief of Karva Chauth

It is mentioned in Narada Purana that on the fourth day of Kartik Krishna Paksha, it is prescribed to observe “Karka Chaturthi” fast. Here “Karka” means a small earthen pot. This Satvik fast is only for women. In this, the woman is instructed to worship Lord Ganesha, Shiva and Gauri after bathing and then wearing beautiful clothes and ornaments.

It is said that during the war between the gods and the demons, all the goddesses took the advice of this fast from Brahmaji to protect their husbands. By the way, the tradition of this fast was started by Mother Parvati. Apart from this, during the Mahabharata period, Mother Kunti handed over this fast ritual to Draupadi. ​​Therefore, in this fast, married women definitely take the blessings of their mother-in-law.

03. Method of worship

The woman observing the fast takes a vow of fasting after finishing her daily chores in the morning, taking a bath etc. and sipping water. It is considered more fruitful to observe this fast not only without food but also without water. In many places, there is a practice of having Sargi in the morning before the fast. This Sargi is given by the mother-in-law to her daughter-in-law. Fruit food is given in Sargi.

In this fast, there is a ritual of worshipping Shiv Darbar and Chandra Dev. Their Shodashopachar worship is done and a box of Suhaag items is kept in clay pots filled with sweets, grains, milk, sugar etc. Then after observing Nirjala fast throughout the day, in the evening at the time of moonrise, all the fasting women listen to the story of the fast and after seeing the moon through a sieve, offer Arghya to the moon. Then after performing Puja Aarti, they break their fast in the hands of their husband. Then in the end, after giving gifts to their mother-in-law, they touch her feet and take blessings from her for attaining unbroken good fortune.

04. Story of the fast

A moneylender had seven sons and a daughter. The Seth’s wife, her daughter and daughter-in-laws had kept the fast of Karva Chauth. At night, when the sons of the moneylender started eating, they asked their sister to have food. The sister said, “Brother, the moon has not yet come out. I will eat only after offering Arghya to the moon.” On hearing the words of the sister, the brothers did one thing – they went out of the city and lit a fire and taking a sieve, showing the light through it, they told the sister, “Look sister, the moon has come out. Offer Arghya and have your food.”

On hearing this, she told her sisters-in-law to come and offer Arghya to the moon. The sisters-in-law knew about the cunningness of their husbands. They did not come to offer Arghya. They told their sister-in-law that your brothers are cheating you and showing light through the sieve. Still, the sister did not pay any attention and offered Arghya after seeing the light through the sieve. Ganeshji became very unhappy by breaking the fast in this way. After this, her husband became very ill and all his wealth was spent on his illness.

Later, when the moneylender’s daughter realized her mistakes, she repented a lot. Then, praying to Lord Ganesha, she again observed the Chaturthi fast with full rituals and offered donations etc. Seeing her act with devotion, Lord Ganesha was pleased with her and gave life to her husband and gave her health and wealth back.

01. परिचय

वर्ष की सभी बारह पूर्णिमाओं में शरद पूर्णिमा का एक विशेष महत्व है। कहा जाता है कि केवल इसी दिन चंद्रमा अपनी पूर्ण सोलह कलाओं से युक्त होता है और पूर्ण बलशाली भी होता है। यह पूर्णिमा वर्षा ऋतु के समापन और शरद ऋतु के प्रारम्भ का संकेत देती है। इसे रास पूर्णिमा और कोजागरी पूनम भी कहते हैं। बंगाल, असम और उड़ीसा प्रान्तों में इस दिन लक्ष्मीजी की विशेष पूजा करते हैं और रात्रि जागरण भी करते हैं।

02. कब होती है शरद पूर्णिमा?

आश्विन मास में नवदुर्गा पर्व के बाद आने वाली पूर्णिमा को शरद पूर्णिमा कहा जाता है।

03. शरद पूर्णिमा का महत्व

पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार इस दिन चंद्रदेव अत्यंत बलशाली होते हैं, और पूर्ण सोलह कलाओं से युक्त होते हैं। कहा जाता है कि शरद पूर्णिमा की चांदनी में अमृत तुल्य औषधीय गुण होता है। अतः शरद पूर्णिमा की रात्रि को चन्द्रदेव का पूजन करने के बाद, चावल की खीर को रात भर चांदनी रात में खुले आकाश के नीचे रखा जाता है, फिर दूसरे दिन उसे प्रसाद के रूप में ग्रहण किया जाता है।

ये पूर्णिमा ऐसी है, जो तन, मन और धन तीनों के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ होती है। इस पूर्णिमा में चंद्रमा की किरणों से अमृत की वर्षा होती है, वहीं देवी महालक्ष्मी अपने भक्तों को धन-धान्य से भरपूर करती हैं। दरअसल शरद पूर्णिमा का एक नाम कोजागरी पूर्णिमा इसलिए भी है क्योंकि, इस दिन रात्रिकाल में भगवती लक्ष्मीजी(कोजागरी) अपने भाई चंद्रदेव के साथ धरती पर आती हैं और पूछती हैं कि, कौन जाग रहा है? अश्विनी महीने की पूर्णिमा को चंद्रमा अश्विनी नक्षत्र में होता है। इसलिए इस महीने का नाम अश्विनी पड़ा है। अश्विनी नक्षत्र के देवता अश्विनी कुमार हैं जोकि देवताओं के वैद्य या डॉक्टर माने जातें हैं। अतः इस नक्षत्र पर भ्रमण करने पर चंद्रमा में स्वाभाविक रूप से औषधीय बल आ जाता है। अतः इस दिन चांदनी का सेवन करने से तन और मन दोनों स्वस्थ बने रहते हैं।

04. भगवान श्रीकृष्ण नें रचाया रास

भागवत पुराण के अनुसार त्रेतायुग में अनेक गोपियों नें भगवान श्रीकृष्ण को अपने पति के रूप में प्राप्त करने के लिए देवी जगदम्बा का पूजन किया था। जिसके कारण देवी ने उन्हें कृष्ण का सान्निध्य पाने का वरदान दिया। तब आश्विन मास की शरद पूर्णिमा के दिन ही भगवान श्रीकृष्ण नें गोपियों संग महारास रचाया था।

05. कुमार कार्तिकेय का जन्म

ऐसा कहा जाता है कि शरद पूर्णिमा के दिन ही शिव और पार्वती के तेज से कुमार कार्तिकेय का जन्म हुआ था। अतः इस तिथि को शैव सम्प्रदाय के लोग भी बड़ी श्रध्दा से मनाते हैं। इस प्रकार से शरद पूर्णिमा के दिन शिवभक्त और विष्णुभक्त दोनों ही चंद्रमा, माता लक्ष्मी, श्रीहरि विष्णु और भगवान शिव की पूजा-अर्चना करते हैं।

06. वर्ष 2024 में कब है शरद पूर्णिमा?

भारतीय पंचांग के अनुसार, आश्विन महीने के शुक्लपक्ष की पूर्णिमा 16 अक्टूबर को रात 08 बजकर 45 मिनट पर शुरू होगी और 17 अक्टूबर शाम 04 बजकर 50 मिनट पर खत्म होगी। शरद पूर्णिमा का व्रत जो लोग रखते हैं वह व्रत 16 अक्‍टूबर को रखा जाएगा और रात को खीर भी 16 अक्टूबर को ही रखी जाएगी। शरद पूर्णिमा के दिन रात्रि में चंद्रदेव की पूजा का विधान है। इस दिन चंद्रोदय शाम 05 बजकर 10 मिनट पर होगा।

07. पूजन विधि-विधान

पूर्णमासी के दिन प्रातः काल में नित्य स्नानादि दैनिक कार्यों से निवृत्त होकर लकड़ी के एक पाटे पर भगवान लक्ष्मी-नारायण और शिव-परिवार की तस्वीरों को स्थापित किया जाता है। एक कलश में शुद्ध जल और एक कलश में गेहूं के दाने भरकर रखा जाता है। फिर धूप-दीप, पुष्प, नैवेद्य आदि से पंचोपचार पूजन किया जाता है। फिर गेहूं के दाने हाँथ में रखकर पूर्णिमा की कथा सुनी जाती है। फिर दिन भर व्रत-उपवास रखकर रात्रिकाल में चन्द्रदेव को अर्घ्य देकर खीर का भोग लगाते हैं और पूजन करते हैं। फिर रातभर खीर को चांदनी में रखकर सुबह प्रसाद के तौर पर ग्रहण किया जाता है और व्रत का पारण किया जाता है।

08. शरद पूर्णिमा व्रत कथा

प्राचीन काल में एक साहूकार की दो पुत्रियाँ थीं। दोनों पुत्रियां शरद पूर्णिमा का व्रत और पूजन किया करती थीं। परन्तु एक पूरे विधि-विधान और निष्ठा से व्रत किया करती थी जबकि दूसरी अधूरे मन से अधूरी पूजा किया करती थी। बड़ी पुत्री के तो कई संतानें हुईं और वें फलने फूलने लगीं, जबकि छोटी पुत्री की संतानें पैदा होते ही मर जाया करती थीं। जब छोटी पुत्री ने इसका उपाय ज्योतिषियों और पंडितों से पूछा तो उन्होंने उसे पूरी निष्ठा और श्रद्धा-भक्ति के साथ शरद पूर्णिमा का व्रत करने का मार्ग बताया। उसके बाद छोटी पुत्री की संतानें भी जीवित रहने लगीं और उन्हें सुख-सौभाग्य प्राप्त हुआ।

01. Introduction

Sharad Purnima has a special significance among all the twelve full moons of the year. It is said that only on this day the moon is in its full sixteen phases and is also very powerful. This full moon indicates the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the autumn season. It is also called Raas Purnima and Kojagari Poonam. In Bengal, Assam and Orissa provinces, special worship of Lakshmiji is done on this day and night vigil is also done.

02. When is Sharad Purnima?

The full moon that comes after Navdurga festival in the month of Ashwin is called Sharad Purnima.

03. Importance of Sharad Purnima

According to mythological beliefs, on this day Chandradev is very powerful, and is full of sixteen phases. It is said that the moonlight of Sharad Purnima has medicinal properties like nectar. So, after worshipping Chandradev on the night of Sharad Purnima, rice pudding is kept under the open sky in the moonlight for the whole night, then it is consumed as prasad the next day.

This Purnima is such that it is the best for body, mind and wealth. In this Purnima, Amrit (nectar) rains from the rays of the moon, while Goddess Mahalakshmi blesses her devotees with wealth and grains. Actually, one of the names of Sharad Purnima is Kojagari Purnima because, on this day, Goddess Lakshmi (Kojagari) comes to earth with her brother Chandradev and asks who is awake? On the full moon day of Ashwini month, the moon is in Ashwini constellation. That is why this month is named Ashwini. The deity of Ashwini constellation is Ashwini Kumar who is considered to be the Vaidya or doctor of the gods. Therefore, on roaming on this constellation, the moon naturally gets medicinal power. Therefore, by consuming moonlight on this day, both body and mind remain healthy.

04. Lord Krishna performed Raas

According to the Bhagavata Purana, in Treta Yuga, many gopis worshipped Goddess Jagadamba to get Lord Krishna as their husband. Due to which the Goddess blessed them to get the proximity of Krishna. Then on the day of Sharad Purnima in the month of Ashwin, Lord Krishna performed Maharas with the gopis.

05. Birth of Kumar Kartikeya

It is said that Kumar Kartikeya was born on the day of Sharad Purnima from the brilliance of Shiva and Parvati. Therefore, people of Shaiv ​​sect also celebrate this date with great devotion. In this way, on the day of Sharad Purnima, both Shiva devotees and Vishnu devotees worship the Moon, Mother Lakshmi, Shri Hari Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

01. क्या होती है पापांकुशा एकादशी?

वर्षभर की सभी एकादशियों में से एक पापांकुशा एकादशी बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण मानी जाती है। जैसा की नाम से ही स्पष्ट है, यह एकादशी व्यक्ति के समस्त पाप कर्मों पर अंकुश लगाकर उन्हें पापों से मुक्त करती है। इस एकादशी का वर्णन श्रीभागवत पुराण, श्री ब्रह्मवैवर्त पुराण और पवित्र महाभारत ग्रन्थ में भी आता है। इस एकादशी में भगवान श्रीहरि विष्णुजी के पाप मोचन रूप की पूजा और उपासना की जाती है तथा उपवास भी रखा जाता है।

02. कब मनाई जाती है पापांकुशा एकादशी?

यह एकादशी आश्विन मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी तिथि को मनाई जाती है। इस वर्ष 2024 में यह दिनांक 13 अक्टूबर, रविवार को मनाई जायेगी। वैष्णव सम्प्रदाय के लोग दिनांक 14 अक्टूबर को यह एकादशी मनाएंगे।

03. पापांकुशा एकादशी का महात्म्य क्या है?

इस व्रत की गाथा भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के मुख से युधिष्ठिर को सुनाई गई है। भगवान श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं कि, हजारों वर्ष की तपस्या से भी जो पुण्य और फल नहीं मिलता वहनामष्ट पुण्यफल मात्र यह एकादशी व्रत को करने से मिल जाता है। इस दिन भगवान विष्णु की पूजा की जाती है। पापांकुशा एकादशी का व्रत हज़ार अश्वमेघ और सौ सूर्य यज्ञों को करने के समान फल देने वाली बताई गई है। जो भी यह व्रत, उपवास, पूजन और जागरण इत्यादि करता है वह सभी पाप कर्मों से मोक्ष प्राप्त करके बैकुंठ लोक को जाता है और उसे श्रीहरि विष्णुजी अपनी शरण में ले लेते हैं। एकादशी जीवों के जीवन के परम लक्ष्य अर्थात भगवत प्राप्ति में बहुत ही सहायक होती है।

04. पापांकुशा एकादशी पूजन का विधि-विधान क्या है?

एकादशी तिथि के दिन प्रातः जल्दी उठकर, नित्य कर्मों से निवृत होकर भगवान विष्णु की मूर्ति या तस्वीर रखकर कलश की स्थापना करें तथा पूजन और व्रत का संकल्प लें। फिर धूप, दीप, पुष्प, पीले अक्षत, फल, नारियल और नैवेद्य आदि से पूजन करें। भगवान की झांकी के निकट भजन, कीर्तन, रात्रि जागरण आदि करके श्रीहरि के पावन नाम का जप करें। विष्णु सहस्रनाम का पाठ करना भी अति शुभ फलदायी होता है। पूजन के पश्चात योग्य कर्मकांडी ब्राह्मण को सामर्थ्य अनुसार दान, दक्षिणा, भोजन, भेंट आदि अवश्य देना चाहिए। भगवान के उपवास में अन्न और नमक का प्रयोग निषेध रहता है। जो लोग पूर्ण उपवास नहीं रख सकते वें एक समय का फलाहार करके भी पूजन कर सकते हैं।

05. पापांकुशा एकादशी व्रत की कथा क्या है?

पौराणिक काल में विंध्य पर्वत पर क्रोधन नाम का एक महाक्रूर बहेलिया रहता था। जो बहुत निर्दयता पूर्वक पशु-पक्षियों का शिकार करता था। जब उसके जीवन का अंत समय आया तो यमराज ने यमदूतों को उसे लाने की आज्ञा दी। यमदूतों नें उसे यह बात उसकी मृत्यु से बहुत पहले ही बता दी थी। तब बहेलिए को अपने पाप कर्मों का अहसास हुआ और नर्क में जाने के भय से वह कांपने लगा। मृत्यु के डर से वह भटकते हुए अंगिरा ऋषि के आश्रम में जा पहुंचा। उसे यमलोक में नर्क नहीं भुगतना पड़े, इससे रक्षा के लिए वह अंगिरा ऋषि से प्रार्थना करने लगा। तब अंगिरा ऋषि ने उसे आश्विन मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी तिथि को भगवान विष्णु के पूजन और उपवास का मार्ग दिया। उनके अनुसार बताए व्रत और पूजन करने से वह अपने सभी पापों से मुक्त होकर विष्णु लोक को चला गया।

01. What is Papankusha Ekadashi?

Among all the Ekadashis of the year, Papankusha Ekadashi is considered very important. As the name suggests, this Ekadashi curbs all the sins of a person and frees them from sins. This Ekadashi is also described in Shri Bhagwat Purana, Shri Brahmavaivarta Purana and the holy Mahabharata Granth. In this Ekadashi, the sin-free form of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu is worshiped and fasting is also observed.

02. When is Papankusha Ekadashi celebrated?

This Ekadashi is celebrated on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This year in 2024, it will be celebrated on 13 October, Sunday. People of Vaishnav sect will celebrate this Ekadashi on 14th October.

03. What is the significance of Papankusha Ekadashi?

The story of this fast has been narrated to Yudhishthira by Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna says that the virtue and fruit that cannot be obtained even by thousands of years of penance, can be obtained by merely observing this Ekadashi fast. Lord Vishnu is worshipped on this day. The fast of Papankusha Ekadashi is said to give the same fruit as performing thousand Ashvamedha and hundred Surya Yagyas. Whoever observes this fast, fasting, worship and vigil etc., attains salvation from all sinful deeds and goes to Vaikunth Lok and Shri Hari Vishnuji takes him under his shelter. Ekadashi is very helpful in attaining the ultimate goal of the life of the living beings i.e. Bhagwat.

04. What is the ritual of Papankusha Ekadashi worship?

On the day of Ekadashi, wake up early in the morning, finish your daily chores, place an idol or picture of Lord Vishnu, install a Kalash and take a pledge to worship and fast. Then worship with incense, lamp, flowers, yellow rice, fruits, coconut and offerings etc. Chant the holy name of Shri Hari by doing bhajan, kirtan, night vigil etc. near the tableau of the Lord. Reciting Vishnu Sahasranama is also very auspicious and fruitful. After worship, one must give donations, dakshina, food, gifts etc. to a capable ritualistic Brahmin according to one’s ability. The use of food and salt is prohibited in the fast of God. Those who cannot keep a complete fast can also worship by eating fruits once a day.

05. What is the story of Papankusha Ekadashi fast?

In ancient times, a very cruel hunter named Krodhan lived on Vindhya mountain. He used to hunt animals and birds very mercilessly. When the end of his life came, Yamraj ordered the messengers of Yamraj to bring him. The messengers of Yamraj had told him this much before his death. Then the hunter realized his sins and started trembling in fear of going to hell. Out of fear of death, he wandered and reached the ashram of sage Angira. He started praying to sage Angira to protect him so that he does not have to suffer hell in Yamalok. Then sage Angira gave him the way to worship and fast for Lord Vishnu on Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. By fasting and worshiping as per his instructions, he got free from all his sins and went to Vishnu Lok.

देवों के देव महादेव – ईश्वरीय कृपा प्राप्ति का वह मार्ग जिस पर चलने वाला साधक सदैव प्रसन्न बना रहता है। क्योंकि जब कोई नहीं था तब भी शिव थे, और जब कोई नहीं रहेगा तब भी शिव रहेंगे। महादेव जिनका ना आदि है और ना अंत। वैसे तो महादेव को प्रसन्न करने के लिए बहुत अधिक उपायों की आवश्यकता नहीं पड़ती है, लेकिन महादेव की प्रसन्नता प्राप्ति में भक्त की शुद्ध भावना ही सब उपायों में आवश्यक एवम श्रेष्ठ मानी जाती है। शिवलिंग पर मात्र जल अर्पण करने से ही महादेव कृपा बरसाने लग जाते हैं।

अपने साधना काल के आरंभिक दौर में मैने यह जाना कि श्रीमद भगवत गीताजी के 18 अध्यायों का नित्य पाठ करना भी महादेव की कृपा प्राप्ति का एक सरल मार्ग है। और जब एक साधक महात्म्य के साथ 18 अध्यायों का अध्ययन करता है तो भक्त के बहुत सारे कष्ट महादेव काट देते हैं। मेरे निजी अनुभव में श्री गीताजी के 18 अध्यायों में से 10वें अध्याय का जो महात्म्य है उसमे एक पक्षी के द्वारा महादेव की स्तुति का बहुत ही सुंदर वर्णन किया गया है। अनुभव अनुसार इस स्तुति को जो भी भक्त अपने नित्य पूजन में शामिल कर लेता है तो वह महादेव का कृपापात्र बना रहता है। आप भी इस सरल स्तुति के द्वारा महादेव का पूजन अवश्य कीजियेगा।

।।ॐ नमः शिवाय।।

महादेव! आपकी जय हो। आप चिदानंदमयी सुधा के सागर तथा जगत के पालक हैं। सदा सद्भावना से युक्त एवम् अनासक्ति की लहरों से उल्लसित हैं। आपके वैभव का कहीं अंत नहीं है। आपकी जय हो। अद्वैत वासना से परिपूर्ण बुद्धि के द्वारा आप त्रिविध मलों से रहित हैं। आप जितेंद्रिय भक्तों के अधीन रहते हैं तथा ध्यान में आपके स्वरूप का साक्षात्कार होता है। आप अविद्यामय उपाधि से रहित, नित्यमुक्त, निराकार, निरामय, असीम, अहंकार शून्य, आवरण रहित और निर्गुण हैं।

आपके चरणकमल शरणागत भक्तों की रक्षा करने में प्रवीण हैं। अपने भयंकर ललाट रूपी महासर्प की विष ज्वाला से आपने कामदेव को भस्म किया है। आपकी जय हो। आप प्रत्यक्ष आदि प्रमाणों से दूर होते हुए भी प्रामाणय स्वरूप हैं। आपको बार-बार नमस्कार है। चैतन्य के स्वामी तथा त्रिभुवनरूपधारी आपको प्रणाम है। मैं श्रेष्ठ योगियों द्वारा चुंबित आपके उन चरण-कमलों की वंदना करता हूं, जो अपार भव-पाप के समुद्र से पार उतारने में अद्भुत शक्तिशाली हैं। महादेव! साक्षात बृहस्पति भी आपकी स्तुति करने की धृष्टता नहीं कर सकते। सहस्त्र मुखों वाले नागराज शेष में भी इतनी चातुरी नहीं है कि वे आपके गुणों का वर्णन कर सकें। फिर मेरे-जैसे छोटी बुद्धि वाले पक्षी की तो बिसात ही क्या है।

Mahadev, the God of Gods – the path of attaining divine grace on which the devotee remains happy always. Because when there was no one, Shiva was there, and when there will be no one, Shiva will remain there. Mahadev has no beginning and no end. Although, many measures are not required to please Mahadev, but the pure feelings of the devotee are considered essential and best among all measures to please Mahadev. Mahadev starts showering his blessings just by offering water on Shivling.

In the initial phase of my Sadhana period, I came to know that daily recitation of 18 chapters of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is also an easy way to attain the grace of Mahadev. And when a devotee studies 18 chapters along with Mahatmya, then Mahadev removes many of the troubles of the devotee. In my personal experience, the greatness of the 10th chapter out of the 18 chapters of Shri Geeta Ji, has a very beautiful description of the praise of Mahadev by a bird. According to experience, any devotee who includes this praise in his daily worship remains blessed by Mahadev. You too must worship Mahadev with this simple praise.

Please Lord Shiva at home with this simple prayer

Mahadev! Victory to you. You are the ocean of nectar of bliss and the protector of the world. You are always filled with good will and are delighted with the waves of detachment. There is no end to your glory. Victory to you. With a mind full of non-dual desires, you are free from the three types of impurities. You remain under the control of the devotees who have controlled their senses and your form is realized in meditation. You are devoid of the title of ignorance, eternally free, formless, disease-free, infinite, devoid of ego, without cover and without attributes.

Your feet are expert in protecting the devotees who surrender to you. You have destroyed Kamadeva with the poisonous flame of the great serpent in the form of your fierce forehead. Victory to you. Even though you are far from direct evidence etc., you are the embodiment of authenticity. Salutations to you again and again. Salutations to you, the master of consciousness and the form of the three worlds. I worship your feet kissed by the best yogis, which are amazingly powerful in helping one cross the infinite ocean of worldly sins. Mahadev! Even Brihaspati himself cannot dare to praise you. Even the thousand-headed serpent king Shesh does not have the intelligence to describe your qualities. Then what is the status of a bird with a small intellect like me.

विजय का पर्व- विजयादशमी(दशहरा) 2024 (Hindi & English)

विजयादशमी या दशहरा का पर्व शारदीय नवरात्रि के ठीक बाद आश्विन मास की दशमी तिथि को बड़े धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। इसे विजयादशमी इसलिए कहते हैं क्योंकि पौराणिक काल में भगवती दुर्गाजी ने नौ दिनों तक लगातार भीषण युद्ध करके महिषासुर का वध दशमी तिथि को किया था। साथ ही त्रेतायुग में भगवान श्रीराम ने भी भीषण संग्राम के बाद महाबली रावण का वध करके लंका पर विजय प्राप्त की थी। इसलिए इस तिथि को विजयादशमी कहते हैं। वैसे मुख्यतः विजयादशमी को श्रीरामजी की विजय से ही जोड़कर देखते हैं। भगवान श्रीराम को धर्म, सत्य, ज्ञान, और देवत्व का प्रतीक माना जाता है, जबकि रावण को अधर्म, असत्य, अहंकार और दानवत्व का प्रतीक माना जाता है।

इस प्रकार यह त्यौहार ज्ञान की अहंकार पर, सत्य की असत्य पर और धर्म की अधर्म पर विजय का प्रतीक माना जाता है। अपने कार्यों में सफलता की कामना रखने वाले लोगों को इस दिन दसों दिशाओं का पूजन करना चाहिए। इससे उनके मनोवांछित कार्य पूरे होते हैं।

कब है पूजन का मुहूर्त?

विजया पूजन मुहूर्त- 14:05 से 14:50 तक (दोपहर)

अपरान्ह मुहूर्त- 13:16 से 15:25 तक (दोपहर)

दशमी तिथि के दिन किनका पूजन होता है?

इस दिन भगवती अपराजिता के साथ ही भगवती जया और विजया का पूजन किया जाता है। दशमी तिथि वाले दिन जब सूर्यास्त होने लगता है और आसमान में कुछ तारे दिखने लगते हैं, तो यह अवधि विजय मुहूर्त कहलाती है। इसी मुहूर्त में भगवान श्रीराम ने विजया माता की आराधना कर दुष्ट रावण का वध किया था।

महाभारत काल में इसी मुहूर्त में अर्जुन ने शमी वृक्ष से गांडीव धनुष और अस्त्र-शस्त्र उतारकर अपने शरीर पर धारण किये थे और शत्रुओं पर विजय प्राप्त की थी। इस पावन दिन पर आयुध या अस्त्र-शस्त्रों के साथ ही शमी वृक्ष के पूजन का भी विधान है। शमी वृक्ष को तेजस्विता और दृढ़ता का प्रतीक भी माना गया है। भविष्य पुराण में लिखा है कि यदि दशहरे के दिन व्यक्ति गंगाजल में खड़ा होकर गंगाजी की पूजा करता है और गंगा स्तोत्र को पढ़ता है तो उसके सभी पापकर्म मिट जाते हैं।

क्या है शमी वृक्ष के पूजन की पौराणिक कथा?

एक बार माता पार्वती ने शिवजी से विजयादशमी के दिन शमी वृक्ष के पूजन के विधान का संदर्भ जानना चाहा। तब शिवजी ने बताया कि पांडवों द्वारा जुए में राजपाट हार जाने के बाद दुर्योधन ने पांडवों के साथ 12 वर्ष तक वनवास और एक वर्ष का अज्ञातवास की शर्त रखी थी। यदि तेरहवें वर्ष उनका पता चल जाएगा तो उन्हें पुनः 12 वर्ष का वनवास भुगतना पड़ेगा। इस कारण अर्जुन ने क्षत्रिय वेश त्यागकर अपने अस्त्र-शस्त्र शमी के पेड़ पर टांग दिए। और राजा विराट के राज्य में सेवाकार्य के लिए आ गए। जब उनके राज्य के गौवंश को हड़पने के लिए कुरु राजकुमारों नें हमला किया तो विराट नरेश के पुत्र उत्तर के साथ मिलकर उन्होंने शमी वृक्ष से गांडीव धनुष सहित अन्य अस्त्र-शस्त्र उतारकर पुनः धारण किये और युद्ध में विजयी हुए। उस दिन दशमी तिथि थी। उस एक वर्ष के अज्ञातवास के दौरान शमी के वृक्ष ने अर्जुन के अस्त्र-शस्त्रों की रक्षा की थी। तब उसे पूजनीय वृक्ष होने का वरदान मिला था। तब से दशमी के दिन शमी वृक्ष के पूजन का प्रचलन शुरू हुआ।

Festival of Victory – Vijayadashami (Dussehra) 2024 (Hindi & English)

The festival of Vijayadashami or Dussehra is celebrated with great pomp on the Dashami date of the month of Ashwin, just after Sharadiya Navratri. It is called Vijayadashami because in the ancient times, Bhagwati Durgaji killed Mahishasura on the Dashami date after a fierce battle for nine days. Also, in Treta Yuga, Lord Shri Ram also conquered Lanka by killing the mighty Ravana after a fierce battle. Therefore, this date is called Vijayadashami. By the way, Vijayadashami is mainly associated with the victory of Shri Ram. Lord Shri Ram is considered a symbol of religion, truth, knowledge, and divinity, while Ravana is considered a symbol of irreligion, untruth, ego and demonism.

Thus this festival is considered a symbol of the victory of knowledge over ego, truth over untruth and religion over unrighteousness. People who wish for success in their work should worship the ten directions on this day. This fulfills their desired tasks.

Who is worshipped on Dashami Tithi?

On this day, along with Bhagwati Aparajita, Bhagwati Jaya and Vijaya are worshipped. On the day of Dashami Tithi, when the sun starts setting and some stars start appearing in the sky, then this period is called Vijay Muhurta. In this Muhurta, Lord Shri Ram killed the evil Ravana by worshiping Vijaya Mata.

In the Mahabharata period, in this Muhurta, Arjuna took down the Gandiva bow and weapons from the Shami tree and wore them on his body and conquered his enemies. On this holy day, there is a ritual of worshipping the Shami tree along with the weapons. The Shami tree is also considered a symbol of brilliance and perseverance. It is written in the Bhavishya Purana that if a person stands in the Ganga water on the day of Dussehra and worships Gangaji and reads the Ganga Stotra, then all his sins are erased.

What is the mythological story of worshipping the Shami tree?

Once Mother Parvati wanted to know the context of the ritual of worshipping the Shami tree on the day of Vijayadashami from Lord Shiva. Then Lord Shiva told that after the Pandavas lost the kingdom in gambling, Duryodhan had put a condition of 12 years of exile and one year of incognito with the Pandavas. If their whereabouts are known in the thirteenth year, then they will have to undergo 12 years of exile again. For this reason, Arjuna abandoned his Kshatriya attire and hung his weapons on a Shami tree. And came to serve in the kingdom of King Virat. When the Kuru princes attacked to usurp the cattle of his kingdom, then along with the son of King Virat, Uttara, he took down the Gandiva bow and other weapons from the Shami tree and wore them again and won the war. That day was Dashami Tithi. During that one year of exile, the Shami tree had protected Arjuna’s weapons. Then it was blessed to be a revered tree. Since then, the practice of worshipping the Shami tree on Dashami day started.
