वक्री ग्रह श्रृंखला के भाग 03 में आज हम जानेंगे कि बुध, मंगल और शुक्र के अतिरिक्त और कौन से ग्रह वक्री होते हैं? जैसा कि हम जानते हैं कि अपने एक परिभ्रमण काल में प्रत्येक ग्रह अपने-अपने परिक्रमा पथ में एक बार वक्री, मार्गी और स्थिर होता हुआ अवश्य दिखलाई पड़ता है। सूर्य और चंद्रमा कभी भी वक्री नहीं होते, जबकि राहु और केतु सदैव वक्री ही रहते हैं। वह कभी भी मार्गी नहीं होते। आज हम गुरु, शनि, राहु और केतु के वक्री होने के स्वरूप को जानेंगे।
01. बृहस्पति (Jupiter)
देवगुरु बृहस्पति इस सौरमंडल के सबसे बड़े और सबसे अधिक द्रव्यमान वाले ग्रह हैं। बृहस्पति अपनी धुरी पर 09 घंटा 55 मिनट में एक चक्कर काटते हैं। और कुल 11.86 धरती के वर्षों में सूर्य की एक परिक्रमा करते हैं। स्थूल तौर पर वह 12 या 13 महीना तक एक राशि पर, 160 दिनों तक एक नक्षत्र पर और 43 दिनों तक नक्षत्र के एक चरण पर रहते हैं। बृहस्पति अस्त होने के 30 दिन के बाद उदय होते हैं और उदय के 128 दिन के बाद वक्री हो जाते हैं। उसके 120 दिनों के बाद पुनर्मार्गी होते हैं। और मार्गी होने के 128 दिनों बाद पुनः अस्त हो जाते हैं। गणना के आधार पर सूर्य से चार राशि अथवा 120 डिग्री के पीछे रहने पर बृहस्पति वक्री हो जाते हैं। एक राशि पर यह लगभग 04 महीने तक वक्री रहते हैं। वक्रत्व की अवधि बृहस्पति की चाल पर आधारित रहती है। यह सूर्य से पांचवी और छठवीं राशि पर वक्री, सातवीं और आठवीं पर अति वक्री, नवमी और दशमी पर स्थिर और 11वीं तथा 12वीं राशि पर पुनः शीघ्रगामी हो जाते हैं। वक्री होने के 05 दिन आगे या पीछे स्थिर प्रतीत होते हैं।
02. शनि ग्रह (Saturn)
सभी 09 ग्रहों में शनि ग्रह सूर्य से सर्वाधिक दूरी पर स्थित हैं। यह सर्वाधिक मंद गति से चलने वाले ग्रह हैं। शनि ग्रह अपनी धुरी पर 17 घंटा, 14 मिनट और 24 सेकंड में एक चक्कर लगाते हैं। शनि ग्रह सूर्य की परिक्रमा 29 वर्ष, 5 महीने, 16 दिन 23 घंटे, 02 मिनट में पूरी करते है। स्थूल रूप से वह एक राशि पर ढाई वर्ष, एक नक्षत्र पर 400 दिन और नक्षत्र के एक चरण पर 100 दिन तक रहते हैं। यह प्रतिवर्ष 04 महीने वक्री और 08 महीने मार्गी रहते हैं। कभी-कभी 140 दिनों तक भी वक्री रह जाते हैं। शनि ग्रह सूर्य से 15 डिग्री की दूरी पर अस्त हो जाते हैं। गुरु ग्रह की भांति यह भी सूर्य से चार राशि पीछे रहने पर वक्री होते हैं। और चार राशि आगे जाने के बाद मार्गी होते हैं। स्थूल अनुमान के अनुसार सूर्य से पांचवी और छठी राशि पर वक्री, सातवीं और आठवीं राशि पर अति वक्री, तथा नवीन और दसवीं राशि पर कुटिल गति वाले हो जाते हैं। सभी नवग्रहों में केवल शनिदेव ही वक्री होने पर प्रत्यक्ष परिणाम देते हैं।
03. राहु और केतु (North & South Node of Moon)
राहु-केतु यह दोनों ग्रह पिंड ना हो करके छाया ग्रह मात्र हैं। पुराणों में इनका स्पष्ट उल्लेख मिलता है। वैज्ञानिक रूप से चंद्रमा पृथ्वी के परिक्रमा पथ को जब काटते हैं तो उत्तरी कटान बिंदु को राहु और दक्षिणी कटान बिंदु को केतु कहते हैं।
ज्योतिष ग्रन्थों के अनुसार चंद्र ग्रहण में भूमि की छाया और सूर्य ग्रहण में चंद्रमा की छाया को राहु और केतु कहते हैं। यह दोनों ग्रह एक दूसरे से सदैव सातवीं राशि पर स्थित होते हैं या 180 डिग्री की दूरी पर रहते हैं। यह ग्रह सदैव वक्री या उल्टी गति से ही चलते हैं। स्थूल रूप से यह 18 वर्ष में 12 राशियों पर गोचर करते हैं। यह एक राशि पर 18 मास, एक नक्षत्र पर 240 दिन और नक्षत्र के एक चरण पर 60 दिनों तक स्थित रहते हैं। यह उदय अथवा अस्त नहीं होते हैं।
उपर्युक्त विवेचन से हम यह निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं कि ग्रहों का वक्री होना विपरीत दिशा में भ्रमण ना होकर एक विशेष प्रकार की खगोलीय स्थिति है।

Today in Part 03 of Retrograde Planets Series, we will know which planets are retrograde other than Mercury, Mars and Venus? As we know that in one period of its rotation, every planet is seen to be retrograde, direct and stationary once in its orbit. Sun and Moon are never retrograde, whereas Rahu and Ketu are always retrograde. They are never direct. Today we will know the nature of retrograde of Guru, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu.
01. Jupiter
Devguru Jupiter is the largest and most massive planet in this solar system. Jupiter completes one revolution on its axis in 09 hours 55 minutes. And completes one revolution around the Sun in total 11.86 Earth years. Broadly, it remains in one sign for 12 or 13 months, in one constellation for 160 days and in one phase of the constellation for 43 days. Jupiter rises 30 days after setting and becomes retrograde after 128 days of rising. It becomes direct again after 120 days. And sets again after 128 days of becoming direct. On the basis of calculation, Jupiter becomes retrograde when it remains four signs or 120 degrees behind the Sun. It remains retrograde in one sign for about 4 months. The period of retrograde depends on the movement of Jupiter. It becomes retrograde in the fifth and sixth sign from the Sun, extremely retrograde in the seventh and eighth, stationary on the ninth and tenth day and again becomes fast-moving in the 11th and 12th sign. It appears to be stationary 5 days before or after becoming retrograde.
02. Saturn
Among all the 9 planets, Saturn is located at the farthest distance from the Sun. It is the slowest moving planet. Saturn revolves around its axis in 17 hours, 14 minutes and 24 seconds. Saturn completes its revolution around the Sun in 29 years, 5 months, 16 days, 23 hours and 02 minutes. Roughly, it stays on one zodiac sign for two and a half years, on one constellation for 400 days and on one phase of the constellation for 100 days. It remains retrograde for 4 months and direct for 8 months every year. Sometimes it remains retrograde for 140 days as well. Saturn sets at a distance of 15 degrees from the Sun. Like Jupiter, it also becomes retrograde when it is four zodiac signs behind the Sun. And it becomes direct after going four zodiac signs ahead. According to rough estimation, they become retrograde at the fifth and sixth sign from the Sun, extremely retrograde at the seventh and eighth sign, and have crooked motion at the new and tenth sign. Among all the nine planets, only Lord Shani gives direct results when he becomes retrograde.
03. Rahu and Ketu (North & South Node of Moon)
Rahu-Ketu, both these planets are not bodies but are mere shadow planets. Their clear mention is found in the Puranas. Scientifically, when the Moon intersects the orbit of the Earth, the northern intersection point is called Rahu and the southern intersection point is called Ketu. According to astrological texts, the shadow of the Earth during lunar eclipse and the shadow of the Moon during solar eclipse are called Rahu and Ketu. Both these planets are always located at the seventh sign from each other or at a distance of 180 degrees. These planets always move in retrograde or reverse motion. Roughly, they transit 12 zodiac signs in 18 years. It stays on one zodiac sign for 18 months, on one constellation for 240 days and on one phase of the constellation for 60 days. It does not rise or set.
From the above discussion, we can conclude that the retrograde of planets is not movement in the opposite direction but a special type of astronomical condition.

वक्री ग्रह श्रृंखला के भाग 02 में आज हम जानेंगे कि कौन-कौन से ग्रह वक्री होते हैं? अपने एक परिभ्रमण काल में प्रत्येक ग्रह अपने-अपने परिक्रमा पथ में एक बार वक्री, मार्गी और स्थिर होता हुआ अवश्य दिखलाई पड़ता है। सूर्य और चंद्रमा कभी भी वक्री नहीं होते, जबकि राहु और केतु सदैव वक्री ही रहते हैं। वह कभी भी मार्गी नहीं होते। आज हम मंगल, बुध और शुक्र के वक्री होने के स्वरूप को जानेंगे।
01. मंगल (Mars)
मंगल ग्रह अपनी धुरी पर 24 घंटा 37 मिनट और 22 सेकंड में एक चक्कर पूरा कर लेता है। यह 686 दिन 17 घंटा 20 मिनट और 41 सेकंड में सूर्य की एक परिक्रमा पूरी करता है। अधिकांश मत से मंगल सूर्य की एक परिक्रमा 18 महीना में पूरी करता है। फलतः 45 दिन में एक राशि तथा डेढ़ दिन में एक अंश को पार कर जाता है। यह एक नक्षत्र पर 20 दिन और नक्षत्र के एक पद पर 05 दिन रहता है। किंतु जब मंगल वक्री होता है तो एक राशि को 127 दिन में और अगली राशि को 15 दिन में पूरी परिक्रमा कर लेता है। जब यह सूर्य से 135 डिग्री की दूरी पर जाता है तो यह वक्री हो जाता है। यह सूर्य से 17 डिग्री की दूरी पर अस्त होता है। मंगल का अस्तकाल 120 दिन होता है फिर यह उदय हो जाता है। उदय होने के 300 दिन बाद यह फिर से वक्री हो जाता है। यह एक राशि पर 60 दिनों तक लगातार वक्री होने के बाद मार्गी होने लगता है।
02. बुध (Mercury)
बुध ग्रह अपनी धुरी पर 24 घंटा 05 मिनट में अपनी एक परिक्रमा पूरी कर लेता है। तथा 87 दिन 23 घंटा 15 मिनट में सूर्य की एक परिक्रमा कर लेता है। बुद्ध एक राशि पर लगभग 25 दिन और एक नक्षत्र पर लगभग 8.5 दिन रहता है। सभी ग्रहों में से बुध सबसे अधिक वक्री और मार्गी होता रहता है। सूर्य से 27 डिग्री की दूरी से आगे होने पर यह वक्री हो जाता है। और जिस राशि पर वह वक्री होता है वहां वह 25 दिनों तक स्थित रहता है। सूर्य की गति से भी इसकी गति अधिक होने के कारण यह पूर्व में अस्त और पश्चिम में उदय होता है। और जब यह वक्री हो जाता है तब पश्चिम में अस्त और पूर्व में उदय होता है। वक्री होने की स्थिति में सूर्य से 12 अंश की दूरी पर तथा मार्गी होने पर 13 अंश की दूरी पर अस्त हो जाता है। यह सूर्य से दूसरी राशि पर जाने पर वक्री और 12वीं राशि पर जाने पर अतिचारी हो जाता है। मार्गी होने पर यह 37 दिन उदय और 36 दिन अस्त होता है। जबकि वक्री होने पर 33 दिन उदय और 16 दिन अस्त रहता है। यह वर्ष में तीन बार वक्री होता है। यह सूर्य का सबसे निकटतम ग्रह है अतः सूर्य से 30 डिग्री से अधिक दूर नहीं जा सकता। अतिचारी होने पर यह एक राशि पर 20 दिन तक रहता है।
03. शुक्र (Venus)
शुक्र ग्रह अपनी धुरी पर 23 घंटा 21 मिनट में एक परिक्रमा पूरी कर लेता है तथा 224 दिन 42 घंटा और 02 मिनट में सूर्य की एक परिक्रमा पूरी कर लेता है। यह एक राशि पर एक महीना और एक नक्षत्र पर 11 दिन रहता है। शुक्र ग्रह एक वर्ष वक्री और 1 वर्ष मार्गी रहता है । वक्री अवस्था में यह पूर्व में उदय और पश्चिम में अस्त होता है। मार्गी अवस्था में यह सूर्य से 09 डिग्री पर और वक्री अवस्था में सूर्य से 08 डिग्री पर अस्त हो जाता है। इस ग्रह की मार्गी की अवस्था 510 दिन और वक्री अवस्था 45 दिनों तक रहती है। यह सूर्य से दूसरी राशि पर वक्री, 12वीं राशि पर शीघ्रगामी तथा तीसरी और 11वीं राशि पर समचारी रहता है। शुक्र उदय होने के 250 दिनों बाद वक्री होता है। शुक्र वक्री होने से 02 दिन आगे और पीछे स्थिर भी प्रतीत होता है। शुक्र वक्री होने के 23 दिन बाद पश्चिम दिशा में अस्त हो जाता है और 09 दिन के बाद पुनः पूर्व दिशा में उदित होता है। शुक्र भी सूर्य के अति निकट है। अतः सूर्योदय के समय और सूर्यास्त के समय इस ग्रह की चमक बहुत बढ़ जाती है। इसलिए इसे भोर का तारा अथवा संध्या तारा भी कहते हैं।

Today in Part 02 of Retrograde Planets Series, we will learn which planets are retrograde? In one period of its rotation, every planet is seen to be retrograde, direct and stationary once in its orbit. Sun and Moon are never retrograde, whereas Rahu and Ketu are always retrograde. They are never direct. Today we will learn about the nature of retrograde of Mars, Mercury and Venus.
01. Mars
Mars completes one revolution on its axis in 24 hours 37 minutes and 22 seconds. It completes one revolution around the Sun in 686 days 17 hours 20 minutes and 41 seconds. According to most opinion, Mars completes one revolution around the Sun in 18 months. As a result, it crosses one zodiac sign in 45 days and one degree in one and a half days. It stays on one constellation for 20 days and on one position of the constellation for 05 days. But when Mars is retrograde, it completes its revolution in one zodiac sign in 127 days and on the next zodiac sign in 15 days. When it goes at a distance of 135 degrees from the Sun, it becomes retrograde. It sets at a distance of 17 degrees from the Sun. Mars sets in 120 days and then it rises. It becomes retrograde again after 300 days of rising. It starts becoming direct after being continuously retrograde on one zodiac sign for 60 days.
02. Mercury
The planet Mercury completes one revolution on its axis in 24 hours 05 minutes. And completes one revolution around the Sun in 87 days 23 hours 15 minutes. Mercury stays on one zodiac sign for about 25 days and on one constellation for about 8.5 days. Out of all the planets, Mercury becomes retrograde and direct the most. It becomes retrograde when it is 27 degrees ahead of the Sun. And it remains in the sign in which it is retrograde for 25 days. Due to its speed being faster than the Sun’s speed, it sets in the east and rises in the west. And when it becomes retrograde, it sets in the west and rises in the east. In the state of being retrograde, it sets at a distance of 12 degrees from the Sun and when it becomes direct, it sets at a distance of 13 degrees. It becomes retrograde when it goes to the second sign from the Sun and becomes transgressive when it goes to the 12th sign. When it is direct, it rises for 37 days and sets for 36 days. Whereas when it is retrograde, it rises for 33 days and sets for 16 days. It becomes retrograde three times in a year. It is the closest planet to the Sun, so it cannot go more than 30 degrees away from the Sun. When transgressive, it stays in one sign for 20 days.
03. Venus
The planet Venus completes one revolution on its axis in 23 hours 21 minutes and completes one revolution around the Sun in 224 days 42 hours and 02 minutes. It stays in one zodiac sign for one month and in one constellation for 11 days. The planet Venus remains retrograde for one year and direct for one year. In the retrograde state, it rises in the east and sets in the west. In the direct state, it sets at 09 degrees from the Sun and in the retrograde state, it sets at 08 degrees from the Sun. The direct state of this planet lasts for 510 days and the retrograde state lasts for 45 days. It remains retrograde in the second zodiac sign from the Sun, fast moving in the 12th zodiac and flat moving in the third and 11th zodiac signs. Venus becomes retrograde 250 days after rising. Venus also appears to be stationary 02 days ahead and behind due to being retrograde. Venus sets in the west 23 days after becoming retrograde and rises again in the east after 09 days. Venus is also very close to the Sun. Therefore, the brightness of this planet increases a lot at sunrise and sunset. Therefore, it is also called the morning star or evening star.

01. भारतीय विवाहिता महिलाएं सिंदूर क्यों लगाती हैं?
भारतीय स्त्री की मांग में चमकता हुआ सिन्दूर मात्र लाल रंग की एक रेखा नहीं, वह भारतीय संस्कृति की आत्मा का सघन संकेत है। यह नारी की आस्था, समर्पण और गृहस्थ जीवन की अखंडता का वह प्रतीक है, जिसे वैदिक ऋषियों ने ‘मंगलसूचक सौभाग्य’ कहा, धर्मशास्त्रों ने ‘स्त्रीधर्म का चिह्न’, और लोकजीवन ने ‘देवीत्व का प्रतिरूप’ कहा है।
02. सिन्दूर का वैदिक और शास्त्रीय आधार?
ऋग्वेद १०.८५ (विवाह सूक्त) में वधू को सम्बोधित करते हुए एक मन्त्र आता है –
यहाँ ‘सम्राज्ञी’ – अर्थात् ‘गृह में राज्य करने वाली’ स्त्री – को स्थापित किया जाता है। बाद के ग्रंथों में यह भाव ‘सिन्दूर’ रूप में विकसित होता है। नारदस्मृति, गृह्यसूत्र, गरुड़ पुराण और अग्नि पुराण में सिन्दूर को विवाह के अनुष्ठानों का अनिवार्य अंग मानते हैं।
उदाहरण – पारस्कर गृह्यसूत्र अध्याय 1.8 में उल्लेख है कि –
(पाणिग्रहण के बाद वधू की मांग में सिन्दूर देना सौभाग्य का प्रतीक है।
धर्मशास्त्रीय सन्दर्भ से –
धर्म सिंधु में कथन है कि “मांगयोः सिन्दूरं शोभनं स्त्रीणां सौभाग्यसूचकं।” अर्थात – मांग में सिंदूर की शोभा स्त्री के सौभाग्य का सूचक होती है।
कात्यायन स्मृति में कहा गया है कि “न सिन्दूरधारिण्याः कुशलं धर्मतः स्मृतम्।” अर्थात – जो स्त्री पति के रहते सिन्दूर का त्याग करे, वह धर्मतः दोष की भागिनी होती है।
03. पारंपरिक प्रसंगों में सिन्दूर
देवी के लगभग सभी स्वरूपों में सिन्दूर का बहुत महत्व है। माँ दुर्गा तो विशेषतः सिन्दूरवर्णा के रूप में पूज्य हैं। विजयादशमी के दिन बंगाल में “सिन्दूर खेला” परंपरा सदियों पुरानी है। स्त्रियों द्वारा देवी को अर्पित सिन्दूर को एक-दूसरे में बाँटने की प्रथा, शास्त्रसम्मत सामाजिक अनुष्ठान है। त्रिपुरा रहस्य, काली तंत्र आदि में सिन्दूर को शक्ति का प्रतीक कहा गया है।
उदाहरण – शाक्त सम्प्रदायों में कौल तंत्र में वर्णन है कि –
“शिववामांशस्थिता गौरी सिन्दूरलिप्तललाटिका।”
अर्थात- शिव के वाम अंग में स्थित गौरी यानि कि माता पार्वती का ललाट सिंदूर से लिप्त है। इस प्रकार से हम देखते हैं कि लाल सिन्दूर, स्त्री के लिए केवल सौंदर्य प्रसाधन नहीं, बल्कि उसका वैवाहिक आत्मगौरव, धार्मिक उत्तरदायित्व, और संस्कारों की अमिट रेखा है।

01. Why do Indian married women apply sindoor?
The shining sindoor in the parting of an Indian woman is not just a line of red color, it is a strong indication of the soul of Indian culture. It is a symbol of a woman’s faith, dedication and the integrity of her married life, which the Vedic sages called ‘auspicious good luck’, the religious scriptures called ‘the symbol of womanhood’, and the folk life called ‘the embodiment of divinity’.
02. Vedic and classical basis of sindoor?
In Rigveda 10.85 (Vivah Sukta), there is a mantra addressing the bride –
Here the ‘Empress’ – that is, the ‘woman who rules the house’ – is established. In later texts this feeling develops into ‘Sindoor’. Narada Smriti, Grihya Sutra, Garuda Purana and Agni Purana consider vermillion as an essential part of marriage rituals.
Example – It is mentioned in Paraskar Grihya Sutra Chapter 1.8 that –
(Giving vermillion to the bride after marriage is a symbol of good fortune.
From theological context –
There is a statement in Dharma Sindhu that “Mangyoah Sindooram Shobhanam Strineam Saubhagyasukham.” That is, the beauty of vermilion in Maang is an indicator of a woman’s good fortune.
It is said in Katyayana Smriti that “Na Sindoordharinyaah Kushalam Dharmataah Smritam.” That means – a woman who gives up vermilion while her husband is alive is guilty of a religious sin.
03. Sindoor in traditional occasions
Sindoor has great importance in almost all the forms of the Goddess. Mother Durga is especially worshiped in the form of vermillion. The tradition of “Sindoor Khela” is centuries old in Bengal on the day of Vijayadashami. The practice of women distributing the vermillion offered to the Goddess among themselves is a social ritual as per scriptures. Sindoor is said to be a symbol of power in Tripura Rahasya, Kali Tantra etc.
Example – In Shakta sects, Kaula Tantra describes that –
“Shivavaamshasthita Gauri Sindoorliptlallatika.”
Meaning – Gauri situated on the left side of Shiva, that is, the forehead of Mother Parvati is smeared with vermilion. In this way we see that red vermilion is not just a cosmetic for a woman, but it is her marital self-esteem, religious responsibility, and an indelible line of sanskars.

निर्जला एकादशी के व्रत को सभी एकादशियों की महारानी कहा जा सकता है। शास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि इस एकादशी के व्रत को करने से समस्त तीर्थो का पुण्य, सभी 14 एकादशियों का फल और समस्त प्रकार के दान आदि का फल मिलता है। इसका उपवास समृद्धि, आरोग्य और अच्छी संतति प्रदान करने वाला होता है। श्रद्धा और भक्ति से किया गया यह व्रत सभी पापों को क्षण भर में नष्ट कर देता है। इस दिन अन्न और जल का सेवन नहीं करते हैं, अतः इसको निर्जला उपवास भी कहते हैं। सभी एकादशियों में यह व्रत थोड़ा सा कठिन है। चूंकि इस व्रत उपवास की खोज पांडव वीर भीम ने की थी अतः इस एकादशी को भीमसेनी निर्जला एकादशी पर्व भी कहा जाता है।
जो मनुष्य इस दिन स्नान, दान, जप और हवन आदि करता है, वह सभी प्रकार से अक्षय पुण्य प्राप्त करता है, ऐसा स्वयं भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने श्रीमद् भागवत में कहा है। जो फल सूर्य ग्रहण के समय कुरुक्षेत्र में दान देने से प्राप्त होता है, वही फल इस व्रत के कहने और इसकी कथा पढ़ने से भी प्राप्त होता है। इस व्रत को करने वाले की समस्त मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होती हैं और वह इस जगत का संपूर्ण सुख भोगते हुए परमधाम जाकर मोक्ष प्राप्त करता है।
01. इस वर्ष कब है निर्जला एकादशी?
प्रत्येक वर्ष यह व्रत ज्येष्ठ मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी को रखा जाता है। इस वर्ष निर्जला एकादशी शुक्रवार, दिनांक 06 जून 2025 को है।
02. पूजन विधि-विधान?
एकादशी वाले दिन ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठकर दैनिक कार्यों से निवृत होकर स्नान करके पवित्र होना चाहिए। फिर स्वच्छ वस्त्र धारण कर भगवान विष्णु की पूजा आराधना व आरती विधि-विधान के अनुसार सम्पन्न करना चाहिए। महिलाएं पूर्ण श्रृंगार कर मेहंदी आदि रचाकर पूरे श्रद्धा और भक्ति भाव से पूजन करने के बाद कलश के जल से पीपल के वृक्ष को अर्घ्य दें। फिर व्रती प्रातःकाल सूर्योदय से आरंभ करके दूसरे दिन सूर्योदय तक जल और अन्य का सेवन ना करें। क्योंकि ज्येष्ठ मास के दिन लंबे और भीषण गर्मी वाले होते हैं, अतः प्यास लगना स्वाभाविक है। ऐसे में जल ना ग्रहण करना सचमुच एक बड़ी साधना का काम है। बड़े कष्ट से गुजर कर ही यह व्रत पूरा होता है। अन्न और जल का सेवन करने से यह व्रत खंडित हो जाता है, और व्रती को इसका दोष भुगतना पड़ता है।
व्रत के दूसरे दिन यानी द्वादशी के दिन प्रातःकाल स्नान आदि करके भगवान विष्णु की प्रतिमा या पीपल के वृक्ष के सामने दीपक जलाकर प्रार्थना करें। इसके पश्चात यथाशक्ति ब्राह्मणों को दान-दक्षिणा आदि भेंट करें। इस दिन यदि जल से भरे घड़े का दान किया जाए या कहीं जल आदि पिलाने का प्रबंध किया जाए तो उस व्यक्ति को राजा के समान फल मिलता है। इस दिन किसी न किसी प्रकार से दान-दक्षिणा अवश्य देनी चाहिए। इस दिन घर आए याचक को खाली हाथ वापस करना बुरा समझा जाता है।
03. व्रत की कथा?
महाभारत काल में एक दिन महर्षि वेदव्यास से पांडव भीम ने पूछा – पितामह! मेरे चारों भाई, माता कुंती और द्रौपदी सभी एकादशियों को भोजन ना करके उपवास रखते हैं। किंतु मैं नहीं कर पाता, क्योंकि मुझे मेरी भूख पर नियंत्रण नहीं है। मैं चाहता हूं कि मैं भी उनकी तरह विधि विधान के अनुसार उपवास रखकर अन्न जल ग्रहण नहीं करूं परंतु मैं ऐसा नहीं कर पाता, आप बताएं मुझे क्या करना चाहिए। तब महर्षि वेदव्यास बोले – हे भीम! तुम ज्येष्ठमास के शुक्लपक्ष की एकादशी का व्रत करो। इस व्रत में स्नान और आचमन को छोड़कर जल का व्यवहार मत करना। इस एक उपवास से तुम्हें सभी 14 एकादशियों के व्रत करने का पुण्य लाभ प्राप्त होगा। महर्षि वेदव्यास के सामने भीम नें प्रतिज्ञा कर इस एकमात्र एकादशी का व्रत पूरा किया। तभी से इसे भीमसेनी एकादशी व्रत के नाम से जाना जाता है। यह व्रत सनातन धर्म को मानने वाले सभी स्त्री-पुरुषों को करना चाहिए। इससे अक्षय पुण्य की प्राप्ति होती है।

The fast of Nirjala Ekadashi can be called the queen of all Ekadashis. It is said in the scriptures that by observing the fast of this Ekadashi, one gets the virtue of all the pilgrimages, the fruits of all 14 Ekadashis and the fruits of all types of donations etc. Its fast provides prosperity, health and good progeny. This fast done with faith and devotion destroys all sins in a moment. Food and water are not consumed on this day, hence it is also called Nirjala fast. This fast is a bit difficult among all Ekadashis. Since this fast was discovered by the Pandava Veer Bhima, hence this Ekadashi is also called Bhimaseni Nirjala Ekadashi festival.
The person who takes bath, donates, chants and does havan etc. on this day, gets Akshaya Punya in all ways, this is said by Lord Krishna himself in Shrimad Bhagwat. The fruit that is obtained by donating in Kurukshetra at the time of solar eclipse, the same fruit is also obtained by saying this fast and reading its story. All the wishes of the person observing this fast are fulfilled and he enjoys all the pleasures of this world and attains salvation by going to Paramdham.
01. When is Nirjala Ekadashi this year?
Every year this fast is observed on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. This year Nirjala Ekadashi is on Friday, 06 June 2025.
02. Worship method?
On the day of Ekadashi, one should get up in Brahma Muhurta, retire from daily chores and take a bath to purify oneself. Then wearing clean clothes, worship and Aarti of Lord Vishnu should be performed according to the method. Women should do full makeup and apply mehndi etc. and after worshiping with full devotion and reverence, offer water from the Kalash to the Peepal tree. Then the fasting person should not consume water or anything else starting from sunrise till the next day’s sunrise. Because the days of Jyeshtha month are long and extremely hot, so it is natural to feel thirsty. In such a situation, not consuming water is really a great sadhana. This fast is completed only after going through a lot of trouble. By consuming food and water, this fast is broken, and the fasting person has to bear the blame for it.
On the second day of the fast i.e. on the day of Dwadashi, take a bath in the morning and pray by lighting a lamp in front of the idol of Lord Vishnu or a Peepal tree. After this, give donations to Brahmins as per your capacity. On this day, if a pot full of water is donated or arrangements are made to provide water etc. somewhere, then that person gets the fruits like a king. On this day, donations and dakshina must be given in some way or the other. On this day, it is considered bad to send back a beggar who comes to the house empty-handed.
03. Story of the fast?
One day during the Mahabharata period, Pandava Bhima asked Maharishi Ved Vyas – Grandfather! My four brothers, mother Kunti and Draupadi observe fast on all Ekadashis by not eating anything. But I am not able to do so because I do not have control over my hunger. I want to observe fast like them and not consume any food or water as per the rules and regulations but I am not able to do so. Please tell me what I should do. Then Maharishi Ved Vyas said – O Bhima! You observe fast on Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. Do not use water in this fast except for bathing and sipping water. By this one fast, you will get the virtue of observing fast on all 14 Ekadashis. Bhima took a pledge in front of Maharishi Ved Vyas and completed the fast on this single Ekadashi. Since then, it is known as Bhimaseni Ekadashi fast. This fast should be observed by all men and women who believe in Sanatan Dharma. One gets eternal virtue by this.

ज्योतिष जगत में वक्री ग्रहों की बहुत चर्चा होती है। अनेक बार आप समाचार पत्रों में, पंचांगों में और मीडिया आदि में सुनते होंगे कि फलां ग्रह अमुक तिथि से अमुक तिथि तक वक्री हो गया है। सबसे पहले हम यह जानेंगे की वक्री का अर्थ क्या है? संस्कृत में वक्री का अर्थ होता है कुटिल अथवा टेढ़ा। अंग्रेजी में इसका पर्यायवाची शब्द retrograde है। है जिसका अर्थ है विपरीत, उल्टा या पीछे की ओर गमन करना। अतः किसी ग्रह की उल्टी या विपरीत दिशा की चाल को वक्री या retro-gradation कहा जाता है। लेकिन क्या कोई ग्रह अपने मार्ग से हटकर अचानक उलटी दिशा में अथवा विपरीत दिशा में भ्रमण करने लगता है? इसकी सच्चाई क्या है?
वास्तव में जो ग्रह सूर्य के आकर्षण के घेरे में निश्चित गति से लगातार घूमते रहते हैं, वह कभी वक्री हो ही नहीं सकते। यानी कि वह कभी उल्टे चल ही नहीं सकते। अगर यथार्थ में ऐसा होता तो इस सृष्टि और समस्त ग्रह मंडल का विनाश हो जाता। तो फिर हम ऐसा क्यों कहते हैं कि अमुक ग्रह वक्री हो गया। वास्तव में हम जब किसी ग्रह के वक्री होने की बात कहते हैं, तो यह उस ग्रह विशेष की प्रत्यक्ष स्थिति का तुलनात्मक विवेचन होता है, जो स्थिति दृष्टि भ्रम (optical illusion) के कारण उत्पन्न होती है।
इसको एक उदाहरण के साथ समझा जा सकता है। मान लीजिए हम एक रेल यात्रा कर रहे हैं। हमारे समानांतर पटरी पर दूसरी रेल भी चल रही है। जो रेल हमारे समानांतर चल रही है उसकी गति अगर हमारी रेल से कुछ कम हो तो ऐसा लगता है कि सामने वाली ट्रेन पीछे की ओर जा रही है। जबकि वास्तव में ऐसा होता नहीं है वह आगे की ओर ही बढ़ रही होती है। इसी प्रकार से जब पृथ्वी की गति अपनी धुरी पर अपने समानांतर चलने वाले ग्रह से तेज होती है, तब पृथ्वी पर निवास करने वालों को पृथ्वी के समानांतर चलने वाला ग्रह पीछे की ओर जाता हुआ दिखाई पड़ता है, तब हम कहते हैं कि ग्रह वक्री हो गया। अतः वक्री ग्रह वास्तव में एक दृष्टि भ्रम है, और व्यावहारिक तौर पर ग्रह कभी वक्री नहीं होते और ना ही कभी उल्टे चलते हैं।
ज्योतिष की भाषा में जब हम किसी ग्रह को “वक्री” होने का दर्जा देते हैं तो वास्तव में ऐसी स्थिति उस ग्रह की पृथ्वी की तुलना में मंद गति होने की सूचना देती है। माना जाता है कि ऐसी स्थिति में उस ग्रह विशेष की शक्ति कुछ कम हो जाती है। ज्योतिष शास्त्र के अनुसार सूर्य और चंद्रमा दो ऐसे ग्रह है जो कभी वक्री नहीं होते। क्योंकि इनकी गति सदैव पृथ्वी की गति से तेज ही रहती है। हालांकि वैज्ञानिक तौर पर सूर्य एक स्थिर ग्रह है पृथ्वी उसके चारों तरफ एक अंडाकार घेरे में चक्कर काटती है। इस क्रम में जब वह सूर्य के निकट आती है तब उसकी गति बढ़ी हुई प्रतीत होती है किंतु ज्योतिष की भाषा में यही कहा जाता है कि सूर्य पृथ्वी से अधिक तेज गति से चल रहा।
जब कभी पृथ्वी ग्रह के समानांतर कोई ग्रह आता है तो उसकी गति पृथ्वी की गति के समान ही होती है तब वह ग्रह धरती वासियों को स्थिर प्रतीत होता है। किंतु वास्तव में ऐसा होता नहीं है। अतः वक्री ग्रह और स्थिर ग्रह प्रत्यक्ष रूप से गति के अंतर- प्रत्यंतर के कारण आंखों से दिखाई देने वाली विभिन्न दृष्टि भ्रम मात्र है। अतः विद्वान ज्योतिषी किसी ग्रह की स्थिति को भली -भांति समझने के बाद ही वायुमंडल और पृथ्वी वासियों पर होने वाले प्रभाव का सूक्ष्मता से अध्ययन करते हैं।

Retrograde Planets Series – Part – 01 (Hindi & English)

01. What are retrograde planets?
There is a lot of discussion about retrograde planets in the world of astrology. Many times you must have heard in newspapers, almanacs and media that a certain planet has become retrograde from a certain date to a certain date. First of all, we will know what is the meaning of retrograde? In Sanskrit, retrograde means crooked or crooked. Its synonym in English is retrograde. Which means moving in the opposite direction, reverse or backwards. Therefore, the reverse or opposite direction movement of a planet is called retrograde. But does any planet suddenly move away from its path and start moving in the opposite direction? What is the truth behind this?
In reality, the planets which continuously move at a fixed speed in the circle of attraction of the Sun can never become retrograde. That is, they can never move backwards. If this were to happen in reality, then this universe and the entire planetary system would have been destroyed. Then why do we say that a particular planet has become retrograde. In fact, when we talk about a planet being retrograde, it is a comparative analysis of the apparent position of that particular planet, which situation arises due to optical illusion.
This can be understood with an example. Suppose we are travelling in a train. Another train is also running on a parallel track. If the speed of the train which is moving parallel to us is less than ours, then it seems that the train in front is going backwards. Whereas in reality this does not happen, it is moving forward only. Similarly, when the speed of the Earth on its axis is faster than the planet moving parallel to it, then the people living on Earth see the planet moving parallel to the Earth going backwards, then we say that the planet has become retrograde. Therefore, a retrograde planet is actually an optical illusion, and practically planets are never retrograde nor do they ever move backwards.
In the language of astrology, when we give a planet the status of being “retrograde”, then in reality such a situation indicates that the planet is moving at a slower speed than the earth. It is believed that in such a situation the power of that particular planet decreases somewhat. According to astrology, the Sun and the Moon are two such planets that are never retrograde. Because their speed is always faster than the speed of the earth. Although scientifically the Sun is a stationary planet, the Earth revolves around it in an elliptical circle. In this sequence, when it comes near the Sun, its speed seems to increase, but in the language of astrology it is said that the Sun moves faster than the Earth.
Whenever a planet comes parallel to the Earth, its speed is the same as the speed of the Earth, then that planet appears to be stationary to the people of the earth. But in reality it is not so. Therefore, retrograde planets and stationary planets are just different optical illusions visible to the eyes due to the difference in speed. Therefore, learned astrologers study the effect of a planet on the atmosphere and the inhabitants of the earth only after understanding its position thoroughly.

यह पावन व्रत ज्येष्ठ मास के कृष्णपक्ष की त्रयोदशी से अमावस्या अथवा पूर्णिमा तक करने का विधान है। यह स्त्रियों के अखंड सौभाग्य से सम्बंधित व्रत पर्व है। मुख्यतः इस व्रत को विवाहिता महिलाएं करती हैं, परन्तु अनेक जगहों पर कुमारी कन्याएं भी इस व्रत और पूजन को करती हैं। सावित्री और सत्यवान की पौराणिक कथा पर ही आधारित है यह व्रत। क्योंकि सावित्री नें वटवृक्ष का पूजन और व्रत करके ही अपने सतीत्व और कठोर तप के बल से अपने मृत पति सत्यवान को यमराज से जीतकर पुनः जीवित करवा लिया था। यही कारण है कि इस व्रत का नाम वट सावित्री पड़ा। शास्त्रों के अनुसार वट यानी बरगद के पेड़ के जड़ में ब्रह्मा, मध्य में विष्णु और अग्र भाग में भगवान शिव निवास करते हैं। इसलिए भी हमारे सनातन धर्म मे इस वृक्ष को इतना पवित्र माना गया है।
01. कब है वट सावित्री व्रत-पर्व?
इस वर्ष 2025 में वट सावित्री व्रत पर्व दिन सोमवार, दिनांक 26 मई 2025 को मनाया जाएगा।
02. व्रत कथा?
प्राचीन काल में सावित्री मद्र देश की राजकुमारी थीं। युवा होने पर सावित्री का विवाह उनके पिता राजा अश्वपति की इच्छानुसार सत्यवान से हो गया। विवाह से पूर्व देवऋषि नारद नें सावित्री से कहा था कि उसका पति सत्यवान केवल एक वर्ष तक ही जीवित रहेगा और इसका राज पाट भी चला जाएगा, तो इससे विवाह मत कर। किंतु सावित्री सत्यवान को पति के रूप में स्वीकार कर चुकी थी, इसलिए उन्होंने अपने मन से अंगीकार हुए पति का त्याग नहीं किया। सावित्री ने 01 वर्ष तक पतिव्रत धर्म का पालन किया। उसने पूरे तन-मन-धन से नेत्रहीन सास ससुर और अल्प-आयु पति की सेवा की।
एक वर्ष की समाप्ति के दिन सत्यवान जब प्रतिदिन की तरह जंगल से लड़कियां लेने गए तो सावित्री भी साथ में गई। वहां पर एक सर्प ने सत्यवान को डस लिया। वह बेहोश होकर गिर पड़ा। तभी वहां यमराज प्रकट हुए और सत्यवान के प्राण लेकर जाने लगे। यह देख सावित्री भी उनके साथ चल दीं। यमराज के लाख समझाने पर भी वह दृढ़ता के साथ डटी रहीं, और विनती करती रहीं कि या तो उन्हें भी यमलोक लेकर के जाएं अथवा उनके पति के प्राण वापस छोड़ दें। यमराज सावित्री के पतिव्रत धर्म को देखकर के अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने सावित्री से वरदान मांगने को कहा। सावित्री ने सास ससुर के लिए नेत्र, खोया हुआ राज्य और स्वयं के लिए 100 पुत्रों की माता होने का वरदान मांगा। अपने वचन में बंधे यमराज को उन्हें यह वरदान देना पड़ा और सत्यवान को फिर से जीवित करना पड़ा। सावित्री की इस पुण्य कथा को सुनने तथा पतिव्रत धर्म का पालन करने पर स्त्रियों के सभी मनोरथ सिद्ध होंगे और सभी विपत्तियां दूर होगी।

व्रत करने वाली महिलाओं को इस दिन प्रातःकाल नित्य कर्मों से निवृत होकर स्नान करके पवित्र और स्वच्छ वस्त्र धारण करने चाहिए। फिर जल से भरा एक पात्र लेकर वटवृक्ष के पास जाकर व्रत का संकल्प लेना चाहिए तथा पात्र का जल जड़ों में डाल देना चाहिए। वृक्ष के तने पर रोली चंदन आदि का टीका लगाकर चावल, गुड़, चना, फल और अन्य पकवान चढ़ा देना चाहिए। फिर मिट्टी से सत्यवान, सावित्री और यमराज की प्रतिमाओं का निर्माण करना चाहिए और उसपर धूप, दीप और नैवेद्य-पुष्पादि से पंचोपचार पूजा करना चाहिए। इसके पश्चात वृक्ष के तने के चारों ओर कच्चे सफेद सूत के धागों को हल्दी में रंगकर सात बार परिक्रमा करते हुए लपेट दें। और वृक्ष देवता से अपने पति के अखंड सौभाग्य और दीर्घायु की कामना करें। व्रत और पूजन के समापन के बाद ब्राह्मणों को घर बुलाकर भोजन कराएं तथा दान दक्षिणा आदि दें। अंत में सत्यवान और सावित्री की कथा सुनें।

Vat-Savitri Vrat- 2025 (Hindi & English)

This holy fast is to be observed from Trayodashi of Krishna Paksha of Jyeshtha month to Amavasya or Purnima. This is a fast festival related to the unbroken good fortune of women. Mainly married women observe this fast, but in many places unmarried girls also observe this fast and worship. This fast is based on the mythological story of Savitri and Satyavan. Because Savitri had brought her dead husband Satyavan back to life by winning him from Yamraj by the power of her chastity and rigorous penance by worshipping and fasting on the Vat tree. This is the reason why this fast was named Vat Savitri. According to the scriptures, Brahma resides in the root of the Vat tree, Vishnu in the middle and Lord Shiva in the front. That is why this tree is considered so sacred in our Sanatan Dharma.
01. When is Vat Savitri Vrat-festival?
This year in 2025, Vat Savitri Vrat festival will be celebrated on Monday, 26th May 2025.
02. Vrat Katha?
In ancient times, Savitri was the princess of Madra country. When she became young, Savitri got married to Satyavan as per the wish of her father King Ashvapati. Before marriage, Devrishi Narada had told Savitri that her husband Satyavan will live only for one year and his kingdom will also be lost, so do not marry him. But Savitri had accepted Satyavan as her husband, so she did not abandon the husband she had accepted with her heart. Savitri followed the duty of Pativrat for 01 year. She served her blind mother-in-law, father-in-law and short-lived husband with all her body, mind and wealth.
On the day of completion of one year, when Satyavan went to take girls from the forest as usual, Savitri also went with him. There a snake bit Satyavan. He fell unconscious. Then Yamraj appeared there and started taking Satyavan’s life. Seeing this, Savitri also went with him. Despite Yamraj’s repeated persuasion, she stood firm and kept requesting that either he should take her to Yamlok or he should return her husband’s life. Yamraj was very pleased to see Savitri’s devotion to her husband and he asked Savitri to ask for a boon. Savitri asked for eyes for her mother-in-law and father-in-law, her lost kingdom and to be the mother of 100 sons for herself. Yamraj, who was bound by his word, had to give her this boon and bring Satyavan back to life. By listening to this holy story of Savitri and following the devotion to her husband, all the wishes of women will be fulfilled and all the troubles will be removed.
03. Method of worship?
Women who observe fast should take bath in the morning after finishing their daily chores and wear clean and pure clothes. Then take a vessel filled with water and go to the Banyan tree and take a vow to fast and pour the water of the vessel in the roots. Apply a tilak of roli sandalwood etc. on the trunk of the tree and offer rice, jaggery, gram, fruits and other dishes. Then make idols of Satyavan, Savitri and Yamraj from clay and do Panchopchar Puja on it with incense, lamp and offerings-flowers etc. After this, wrap raw white cotton threads dyed in turmeric around the trunk of the tree while circumambulating it seven times. And pray to the tree deity for the unbroken good fortune and long life of your husband. After the completion of fast and worship, invite Brahmins to your home and feed them and give donations etc. Finally listen to the story of Satyavan and Savitri.
