सनातन धर्म में गुरुओं को विशेष महत्व दिया गया है। उनका स्थान देवताओं से भी ऊपर माना गया है। हमारे इन्हीं गुरुओं के सम्मान में आषाढ़ मास के शुक्लपक्ष की पूर्णिमा को गुरु पूर्णिमा मनाई जाती है। इस पूर्णिमा को आषाढ़ी पूर्णिमा अथवा व्यास पूर्णिमा भी कहते हैं। इस पूर्णिमा को हिंदू, बौद्ध और सिख सभी धर्म के लोग मिलजुल कर मनाते हैं। गुरु पूर्णिमा के दिन अपने गुरु की पूजा करने से अज्ञान का अंधकार मिटता है, और जीवन करुणामय बनता है। “गु” का मतलब अंधेरा और “रू” का अर्थ है मिटा देने का भाव। जो अज्ञानता के अंधकार को मिटा दे, वही सच्चा गुरू होता है। गुरु पूर्णिमा के दिन हम ऐसे ही महान गुरुओं को श्रद्धा सुमन अर्पित करते हैं।

01. 2025 में कब है गुरुपूर्णिमा?

इस वर्ष की गुरु पूर्णिमा कुछ खास है। क्योंकि इस बार दिनांक 10 जुलाई, 2025 को गुरुवार और पूर्णमासी का विशेष संयोग बन रहा है। अतः इस दिन किये गए व्रत, पूजन आदि विशेष फलदाई होंगे।

02. पूजन का विधि विधान?

इस दिन प्रात:काल स्नान आदि से निवृत होकर अपने गुरु की सेवा में उपस्थित होकर अथवा अपने गुरु की तस्वीर को किसी ऊंचे आसन पर स्थापित करके पुष्प आदि अर्पित करें। उसके बाद संकल्प करके षोडशोपचार विधि से गुरु का पूजन करें। क्योंकि इस दिन गुरु की पूजा देवता के समान करने का विधान है। इस पर्व को श्रद्धा भाव से मनाकर गुरु को यथाशक्ति भेंट आदि अर्पण करें। फिर उनसे आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करें ताकि वह फलदायक हो। इसके अलावा शिष्य गुरु से विनम्रता पूर्वक जाने अनजाने में किए गए दुर्व्यवहार, अहंकार, प्रमाद, हिंसा या अन्य कोई ऐसी भूल, जो अनजाने में ही उनसे हो गई हो उस भूल के लिए क्षमा मांगें और अपने गुरु से आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करें।

03. व्रत कथा?

महाभारत काल में हस्तिनापुर में गङ्गभट्ट नाम का एक मछुआरा रहता था। एक दिन उसे नदी में बहुत भारी मछली प्राप्त हुई। उसने जब घर ले जाकर मछली का पेट चीरा, तो उसमें से कन्या निकली। उस कन्या का नाम उसने सत्यवती रखा। मछली के पेट से जन्म लेने के कारण उसके शरीर से मछली की दुर्गंध निकलती रहती थी। एक बार पराशर मुनि उसकी नाव पर सवार हुए और नदी के पार जाने लगे। सत्यवती के सौंदर्य पर ऋषि मोहित हो गए और विवाह की कामना करते हुए सत्यवती से विवाह का प्रस्ताव रखा।

सत्यवती ने अपने शरीर से आने वाली दुर्गंध के बारे में बताया और बोली कि वह विवाह नहीं कर सकती। उसके इस दोष को ऋषि पराशर ने अपने तपोबल से तुरंत दूर कर दिया। इस प्रकार ऋषि पराशर और देवी सत्यवती का विवाह हो गया। कुछ समय पश्चात उनकी संतान महर्षि वेदव्यास का जन्म हुआ। जन्म के समय ही बालक के सिर पर जटाएं थीं और उसने जनेऊ धारण किया हुआ था। उत्पन्न होते ही उसने अपने पिता को नमस्कार किया और हिमालय पर्वत पर चला गया। जहां पर वह बद्री वन और हिमालय की गुफाओं में कठोर तपस्या में लीन हो गया।

बाद में उन्होंने बद्री वन में रहते हुए अध्ययन-अध्यापन किया। जिससे उसका नाम बाद्रायण के नाम से भी विख्यात हुआ। महर्षि वेद व्यास नें महाभारत के अलावा वेद, शास्त्र और पुराणों की भी रचना की। अपनी रचनाओं के माध्यम से वे पूरे विश्व के गुरु माने जाते हैं। गुरु पूर्णिमा को जन्मे महर्षि वेदव्यास के नामकरण पर ही इस तिथि को व्यास पूर्णिमा भी कहते हैं। क्योंकि आदि शंकराचार्य को महर्षि व्यास का अवतार माना गया है इसलिए इस दिन साधु-सन्यासियों द्वारा आदि शंकराचार्य का पूजन किया जाता है।

Gurus have been given special importance in Sanatan Dharma. Their place is considered to be above even the gods. In honor of these gurus, Guru Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month. This Purnima is also called Ashadhi Purnima or Vyas Purnima. People of all religions, Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs celebrate this Purnima together. By worshiping your Guru on the day of Guru Purnima, the darkness of ignorance is eradicated, and life becomes compassionate. “Gu” means darkness and “ru” means the sense of erasing. The one who eradicates the darkness of ignorance is the true Guru. On the day of Guru Purnima, we pay tribute to such great Gurus.

01. When is Guru Purnima in 2025?

This year’s Guru Purnima is special. Because this time on July 10, 2025, there is a special coincidence of Thursday and full moon. Therefore, the fasts, worship etc. done on this day will be especially fruitful.

02. Method of worship?

On this day, after taking a bath in the morning, present yourself in the service of your Guru or place your Guru’s picture on a high seat and offer flowers etc. After that, take a pledge and worship the Guru with the Shodashopachar method. Because on this day, it is customary to worship the Guru like a deity. Celebrate this festival with reverence and offer gifts etc. to the Guru as per your ability. Then get his blessings so that it is fruitful. Apart from this, the disciple should humbly apologize to the Guru for any misbehavior, arrogance, negligence, violence or any other mistake done by him knowingly or unknowingly and get blessings from his Guru.

03. Vrat Katha?

During the Mahabharata period, a fisherman named Gangabhatt lived in Hastinapur. One day he found a very heavy fish in the river. When he took the fish home and cut open its stomach, a girl came out of it. He named that girl Satyavati. Due to being born from the stomach of a fish, her body used to emit the foul smell of fish. Once sage Parashar boarded his boat and started crossing the river. The sage was fascinated by Satyavati’s beauty and, wishing to marry her, proposed marriage to Satyavati.

Satyavati told him about the foul smell coming from her body and said that she cannot get married. Sage Parashar immediately removed this defect of hers with his penance power. Thus, sage Parashar and goddess Satyavati got married. After some time, their child Maharishi Ved Vyas was born. At the time of birth, the child had matted hair on his head and was wearing a sacred thread. As soon as he was born, he greeted his father and went to the Himalayas. Where he got absorbed in rigorous penance in Badri forest and the caves of the Himalayas.

Later he studied and taught while living in Badri forest. Due to which his name also became famous as Badrayan. Apart from Mahabharata, Maharishi Ved Vyas also composed Vedas, Shastras and Puranas. Through his compositions, he is considered the Guru of the whole world. This date is also called Vyas Purnima after the naming of Maharishi Ved Vyas who was born on Guru Purnima. Because Adi Shankaracharya is considered to be the incarnation of Maharishi Vyas, therefore on this day Adi Shankaracharya is worshipped by sadhus and saints.
