Usually gems are worn in savaai units. Like- 7 and a quarter ratti, 5 and a quarter ratti etc.

The religious belief behind this is that there is an increase in the weight of savaai. Similarly, gems of paunna weight are not worn. The belief behind this is that paunna is a symbol of less. Keep in mind that savaai means 0.10 to 0.40. Similarly paunna means 0.7 to 0.9. Thus a gem of 5.1 to 5.4 ratti is considered to be 5.25 ratti.

शनि ग्रह की अतिरिक्त ऊर्जा जब प्रारब्ध के आधार पर या सामान्य साढ़ेसती के आधार पर या जन्म कुंडली में शनिदेव के विराजने के आधार पर जब अधिक बढ़ जाती है तब शनिदेव के प्रभाव को कम करने के लिए, उनसे क्षमा मांगने के लिए काले तिल, सरसों का तेल और लौह पात्र का दान किया जाता है उसे ही शनि का छाया-पात्र का दान कहते हैं।

02. शनि का छाया-पात्र का दान कैसे और किस दिन किया जाता है?

किसी भी गुरुवार/शनिवार को एक लौह पात्र में थोड़े काले तिल डालकर, सरसों का तेल डालकर पीपल के वृक्ष के नीचे खड़े होकर पात्र में अपना प्रतिबिंब देखने के पश्चात केवल शनिदेव के मंदिर में ही पात्र समेत दान दिया जाना चाहिए।

03. शनि का छाया-पात्र का दान किसको देना चाहिए?

शनिदेव के छाया पात्र का दान या शनिग्रह से संबंधित कोई भी दान केवल शनिदेव के मंदिर में ही दिया जाना चाहिए।

04. शनि का छाया-पात्र का दान किन जातकों को करना चाहिए?

1a. जिनको भी संतान से कष्ट हो, संतान न हो, मुकदमे चल रहे हो, पैरों में अधिक दर्द रहता हो या रीढ़ की हड्डी प्रभावित रहती हो या उनकी जन्म राशि पर साढ़ेसती चल रही हो। उन्हें छाया पात्र का दान 11 गुरुवार/शनिवार अवश्य करना चाहिए।

औषधि मणि मंत्राणाम्, ग्रह-नक्षत्र तारिका।
भाग्यकाले भवेत् सिद्धिः,अभाग्यं निष्फलं भवेत ।।

अर्थात, औषधि, मणि(रत्न) एवं मन्त्र, ग्रह-नक्षत्र जनित रोगों को दूर करते हैं। यदि समय सही है तो शुभ फल प्राप्त होते हैं, जबकि विपरीत समय में ये सभी निष्फल हो जाते हैं। हमारे ज्योतिष विज्ञान में ग्रहों के रत्नों का वही महत्व है जो आधुनिक मेडिकल साइंस में दवाइयों का है। दरअसल ग्रहों के रत्न हमारे शरीर में ग्रहों से आ रही दिव्य किरणों को सोखकर हमारे शरीर में ऊर्जा को बढाते हैं। उस ग्रह से सम्बंधित शुभ फलों में बढ़ोतरी करते हैं। अतः आपकी कुंडली में जो ग्रह शुभ फलदायी हों मगर निर्बल हों, उनका रत्न धारण करके उन्हें बलशाली बनाया जा सकता है। यही कारण भी है कि अशुभ ग्रहों के रत्न सर्वथा त्याज्य ही होते हैं।

माणिक्यं विगुणे सूर्ये वैदूर्यम शशलाच्छने।
प्रवालं भूमिपुत्रे च पद्मरागम शशांकजे।।
गुरौ मुक्ताम भृगौ व्रजं इंद्रानीलं शनैश्चरे।
राहो गोमेदकं धार्यं केतौ मर्कतम तथा ।।

इसी प्रकार श्रीकश्यप मुनि और श्रीपति भी अशुभ ग्रहों के प्रकोप को शांत करने के लिए इनके अपने अपने रत्न धारण करने का सुझाव देते हैं।

अब सवाल ये उठता है कि नवग्रहों के रत्नों को किस प्रकार धारण किये जाएं कि हमारी सोई हुई किस्मत पुनः जाग उठे। इस सम्बंध में विभिन्न ज्योतिर्विदों के अपने अलग-अलग सिद्धांत हैं। कोई भाग्येश का रत्न पहनाता है, तो कोई प्रचलित वर्तमान दशा का रत्न पहनाता है। कोई जन्म चंद्र राशि के स्वामी का रत्न पहनाता है तो कोई सूर्य की सायन राशि के अनुसार रत्न धारण करने का सुझाव देता है। यहाँ हम आपको उम्र की अवस्था अनुसार किस्मत जगाने वाले रत्नों को धारण करने का सुझाव दे रहे हैं। जिसके लिए हमने जीवन काल को 3 खण्डों में विभाजित किया है।

रत्न का वजन-

प्रायः रत्न का धारण सवाई ईकाई में किया जाता है। जैसे- सवा 7 रत्ती, सवा पांच रत्ती आदि।
