सर्वपितृ अमावस्या 2024(Hindi & English)

हमारे हिन्दू पंचांग में भाद्रपद माह की पूर्णिमा तिथि से आश्विन माह की अमावस्या तिथि तक 16 दिनों के पक्ष को हम पितृपक्ष कहते हैं। इन 16 दिनों में हम अपने पूर्वजों और पितरों के सम्मान में विभिन्न कर्म यथा- तर्पण, श्राद्ध, पिंडदान इत्यादि करते हैं। जिन लोगों को अपने गुजरे हुए माता, पिता, दादी, बाबा अथवा भाई बहनों की मृत्यु की तिथि ज्ञात होती है, वें तिथि के दिन पितृ कर्म करते हैं। जिन लोगों को अपने परिजनों की मृत्यु की तिथि ज्ञात नहीं होती, उनके लिए पिंडदान, तर्पण, श्राद्ध आदि कर्म के लिए अमावस्या तिथि का विधान रखा गया है। इस अमावस्या को सर्वपितृ अमावस्या इसीलिए कहा जाता है कि जिनमे सभी सोलह दिनों तक पितृकर्म करने का सामर्थ्य नहीं है, वें एक अमावस्या वाले दिन ही पितृकर्म कर सकते हैं।

इसके अतिरिक्त जिन्हें अपने मृत परिजनों की मृत्यु की तिथि ज्ञात नहीं है वें भी सर्वपितृ अमावस्या के दिन पितरों के निमित्त श्राद्ध, दान, और तर्पण कर सकते हैं। वस्तुतः सर्वपितृ अमावस्या पितरों की विदाई का दिन है। उनका विसर्जन कर उन्हें वापस उनके लोक भेजने का दिन है। अतः इस तिथि का महत्व बहुत अधिक बढ़ जाता है। इस दिन को महालय भी कहते हैं। पितरों की विदाई के बाद माँ भगवती दुर्गा के धरती पर आगमन का उत्सव शुरू हो जाता है।

01. कैसे करें पितृ विसर्जन?

अमावस्या वाले दिन प्रातःकाल उठकर दैनिक कार्यो से निवृत्त होकर घर की सफाई करें। फिर घर की दहलीज पर गंगाजल से छिड़काव कर सुगन्ध मिश्रित चंदन का लेप करें। घर की महिलाएं स्नान के बाद रसोई में आपके घर मे पसन्द किये जाने वाले पकवान बनाएं। पकवानों में खीर और पूड़ी अवश्य शामिल करें। फिर योग्य ब्राह्मण को घर पर आमंत्रित करके पितरों के निमित्त हवन, पूजन, पिंड, तर्पण इत्यादि करवाएं। उसके बाद पंच बलि निकालें। गाय, कुत्ता, कौवा, चींटी और देव के लिए निकाला गया भोज्य प्रसाद पंचबलि कहलाता है। उसके बाद आपके पूर्वजो की तस्वीरों के सामने धूपबत्ती, पुष्प, दीपक आदि रखकर थोड़ा सा भोज्य प्रसाद रख दें। हाँथ जोड़कर उनकी सदगति और ईश्वर के शरण में जाने की प्रार्थना करें। फिर ब्राह्मण को भोजन कराकर वस्त्र, अनाज, दक्षिणा आदि दान देकर विदा करें।

संध्या काल में पितरों के लिए पंच दीपों का दान करें। घर के पूजा स्थल, तुलसी के पास, रसोई के जल स्थान के पास, घर की दक्षिण दिशा और पश्चिम दिशा पर एक घी या तेल का दीपक रखें। शिवालय जाकर शिवलिंग पर काले तिल मिश्रित जल से अभिषेक करें। संध्याकाल में यदि मन्दिर के पास पीपल वृक्ष हो तो वहां भी एक दीपक जलाएं। पितरों की सदगति, मुक्ति और ऊर्ध्वगति के लिए प्रार्थना करें। इस प्रकार सर्वपितृ अमावस्या पर श्राद्ध, पिंडदान और तर्पण करने से पितरों का विशेष आशीर्वाद प्राप्त होता है।

02. वर्ष 2024 में कब है सर्वपितृ अमावस्या?

हमारे पंचांगों के अनुसार अश्विन मास की अमावस्या तिथि दिनांक 01 अक्टूबर 2024 को रात 09 बजकर 39 मिनट पर प्रारम्भ होगी, जो 03 अक्टूबर 2024 को सुबह 12 बजकर 18 मिनट पर समाप्त होगी। इस कारण उदयातिथि के अनुसार अमावस्या का कर्म दिनांक 02 अक्टूबर 2024 को होगा।

03. पूजन का मुहूर्त कब है?

कुतुप मुहूर्त- 11:45 प्रातः से दोपहर 12:24 मिनट तक।
रौहिण मुहूर्त- 12:34 दोपहर से 01:34 दोपहर तक।
अपराह्न काल- 01:21 दोपहर से 03:43 दोपहर तक।

अमावस्या और सूर्यग्रहण का संबंध

इस वर्ष पितृ अमावस्या पर सूर्यग्रहण का साया मंडरा रहा है। सूर्य ग्रहण 01 अक्टूबर को रात में 09:40 से 02 अक्टूबर की मध्य रात्रि 03:17 मिनट तक रहेगा। हालांकि यह सूर्य ग्रहण रात में लगेगा इसलिए भारत में यह दिखाई नहीं देगा। अतः सूतक आदि मान्य नहीं होगा। ऐसे में सर्व पितृ अमावस्या पर सूर्य ग्रहण के कारण तर्पण और श्राद्ध कर्म में कोई निषेध नहीं होगा।

Sarvapitri Amavasya 2024 (Hindi & English)

In our Hindu calendar, the period of 16 days from the full moon date of Bhadrapada month to the new moon date of Ashwin month is called Pitru Paksha. In these 16 days, we perform various rituals such as Tarpan, Shradh, Pinddaan etc. in honor of our ancestors and forefathers. Those who know the date of death of their deceased mother, father, grandmother, grandfather or siblings, perform Pitru Karma on that day. For those who do not know the date of death of their relatives, the Amavasya date has been prescribed for Pinddaan, Tarpan, Shradh etc. This Amavasya is called Sarvapitri Amavasya because those who do not have the ability to perform Pitru Karma for all sixteen days, can perform Pitru Karma only on one Amavasya day.

Apart from this, those who do not know the date of death of their dead relatives can also perform Shradh, donation and tarpan for their ancestors on the day of Sarvapitre Amavasya. In fact, Sarvapitre Amavasya is the day of farewell of ancestors. It is the day of immersing them and sending them back to their world. Therefore, the importance of this date increases a lot. This day is also called Mahalaya. After the farewell of ancestors, the celebration of the arrival of Mother Bhagwati Durga on earth begins.

01. How to do Pitru Visarjan?

On the day of Amavasya, wake up early in the morning, finish your daily chores and clean the house. Then sprinkle Gangajal on the threshold of the house and apply a paste of sandalwood mixed with fragrance. After bathing, the women of the house should prepare the dishes liked in your house in the kitchen. Include kheer and puri in the dishes. Then invite a qualified Brahmin to the house and get havan, pujan, pind, tarpan etc. done for the ancestors. After that, take out Panch Bali. The food prasad offered to cow, dog, crow, ant and god is called Panch Bali. After that, keep incense sticks, flowers, lamps etc. in front of the pictures of your ancestors and keep some food prasad. With folded hands, pray for their salvation and going to the shelter of God. Then feed the Brahmin and send him off by donating clothes, grains, dakshina etc.

In the evening, donate Panch Deeps for the ancestors. Place a ghee or oil lamp at the place of worship in the house, near Tulsi, near the water place in the kitchen, in the south and west direction of the house. Go to the Shiva temple and perform Abhisheka on the Shivling with water mixed with black sesame seeds. In the evening, if there is a Peepal tree near the temple, then light a lamp there as well. Pray for the salvation, liberation and upward movement of the ancestors. In this way, by performing Shradh, Pinddaan and Tarpan on Sarvapitri Amavasya, one gets the special blessings of the ancestors.

02. When is Sarvapitri Amavasya in the year 2024?

According to our Panchangs, the Amavasya date of Ashwin month will start on 01 October 2024 at 09:39 pm, which will end on 03 October 2024 at 12:18 am. Therefore, according to Udayatithi, the Amavasya ritual will be performed on 02 October 2024.

03. When is the auspicious time for worship?

Kutup Muhurta- 11:45 am to 12:24 pm.
Rohin Muhurta- 12:34 pm to 01:34 pm.
Afternoon Kaal- 01:21 pm to 03:43 pm.

 

Relation between Amavasya and Solar Eclipse

This year, the shadow of solar eclipse is looming on Pitru Amavasya. The solar eclipse will last from 09:40 pm on October 01 to 03:17 midnight on October 02. Although this solar eclipse will occur at night, it will not be visible in India. Therefore, Sutak etc. will not be valid. In such a situation, there will be no prohibition in Tarpan and Shradh rituals due to solar eclipse on Sarva Pitru Amavasya.
