01. क्यों मनाते हैं शिवरात्रि?
ऐसे तो वर्ष में सभी 12 कृष्णपक्षों की चतुर्दशी तिथि पर शिवरात्रि होती है, किंतु फाल्गुन माह के कृष्णपक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि को “महा शिवरात्रि” के नाम से पुकारा गया है। और हमारे पुराणों में “महा शिवरात्रि” का बड़ा महात्म्य बताया गया है। लिंगपुराण के अनुसार इसी दिन ही भगवान महादेव नें स्वयं को निराकार रूप से विलग होकर ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में प्रकट किया था।
ऐसी भी मान्यता है कि इसी दिन भगवान आशुतोष शिव नें समुद्र-मंथन से निकले हलाहल विष का पान कर उसे अपने कंठमें स्थापित कर लिया और नीलकण्ठ महादेव कहलाए। शिवपुराण की प्रचलित मान्यता के अनुसार इसी दिन भगवान शिव नें माता पार्वती से विवाह किया था, तब सभी भक्तगणों नें रात्रि जागरण कर उत्सव मनाया था। अतः यह महाशिवरात्रि मनाने की परंपरा पड़ी। लगभग सभी पुराणों में महाशिवरात्रि के पावन पर्व का विवरण मिलता है। शिवरात्रि में सत, रज और तम सभी तीनो गुणों का सुंदर संतुलन स्थापित किया जाता है और समस्त शिव परिवार के पूजन-अर्चन, जप, व्रत तथा दान कर्म से मोक्ष की कामना की जाती है।
02. शुभ पूजन मुहूर्त?
पंचांगों के अनुसार फागुन मास की कृष्णपक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि दिनांक 26 फरवरी, बुधवार को सुबह 11:08 से शुरू होगी और दूसरे दिन 27 फरवरी, गुरुवार को सुबह 08:54 पर समाप्त होगी। महाशिवरात्रि में रात्रि के पूजन का विधान है, इसलिए 26 फरवरी की रात में महादेव का पूजन किया जाएगा। वैसे तो 26 फरवरी भोर समय से लेकर 27 फरवरी की सुबह तक पूजा और हवन इत्यादि चलते रहेंगे।
03. सूर्यास्त के पश्चात शुभ पूजन मुहूर्त?
01. प्रथम प्रहर का पूजन दिनांक 26 फरवरी को शाम 06:19 से लेकर रात 09:26 तक।
02. द्वितीय प्रहर के पूजन का समय 26 फरवरी को रात 09:26 से 27 फरवरी की अर्धरात्रि 12:34 तक।
03. तृतीय प्रहर के पूजन का समय 27 फरवरी को अर्धरात्रि 12:34 से सुबह 03:41 तक।
04. चतुर्थ पर प्रहर के पूजन का समय 27 फरवरी को प्रातः 03:41 से सुबह 06:48 तक।
04. महादेव पर जलाभिषेक का शुभ पूजन मुहूर्त?
महाशिवरात्रि के दिन भगवान श्री सांबसदाशिव महादेव पर जलाभिषेक का विशेष महत्व है। दिनांक 26 फरवरी 2025 को जलाभिषेक के निम्नलिखित मुहूर्त हैं।
प्रथम मुहूर्त सुबह 06:45 से सुबह 09:42 तक जल चढ़ाया जा सकता है।
द्वितीय मुहूर्त में सुबह 11:06 से लेकर दोपहर 12:35 तक जल चढ़ाया जा सकता है।
तृतीय मुहूर्त में दोपहर 03:25 से शाम 06:10 तक भी जलाभिषेक किया जा सकता है।
चतुर्थ मुहूर्त में रात 09:00 से लेकर रात 12:01 तक जलाभिषेक किया जा सकता है।
05. ज्योतिषीय दृष्टिकोण से महाशिवरात्रि पर्व का महत्व?
इस बार की शिवरात्रि का विशेष महत्व इसलिए है कि, इस वर्ष लगभग 144 वर्षों बाद लगने वाले कुंभ महापर्व का अंतिम स्नान शिवरात्रि की अमावस्या पर होगा। चूंकि चतुर्दशी तिथि के स्वामी स्वयं भगवान शिव ही हैं, इसीलिए प्रत्येक माह की कृष्णपक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि को मासिक शिवरात्रि के नाम से जाना जाता है।
और फागुन माह की चतुर्दशी तिथि को महाशिवरात्रि के नाम से जाना जाता है। इस तिथि को अत्यंत शुभ माना जाता है, क्योंकि इस समय सूर्य उत्तरायण भी हो चुके होते हैं और ऋतु परिवर्तन भी हो रहा होता है। चतुर्दशी तिथि के समय चंद्रमा कमजोर स्थिति में होते हैं। और क्योंकि भोलेनाथ स्वयं चंद्रमा को अपने माथे पर धारण किए हुए हैं, इसलिए भगवान भोलेनाथ की पूजा से चंद्रमा भी प्रबल होकर शुभ फल देते हैं।
सभी राशियों के लिए नवग्रह जनित पीड़ा, शनि की ढैया, साढ़ेसाती, महादशा, अन्तर्दशा, राहु-केतु की पीड़ा, कालसर्पदोष, पितृदोष आदि का शमन इस दिन किये गए रुद्राभिषेक, शिवमंत्रों के जाप से आसानी से किया जा सकता है। इस दिन शिवलिंग पर अभिषेक करते समय श्रीसूक्त तथा रूद्रसूक्त का पाठ करना विशेष फलदाई होगा।
06. शिवरात्रि व्रत की पूजन की कथा?
श्री शिव महापुराण के अनुसार बहुत वर्ष पहले अर्बुद देश में सुंदरसेन नामक एक निषाद राजा रहता था। वह एक बार जंगल में अपने कुत्तों के साथ शिकार करने गया। पूरे दिन परिश्रम के बाद भी उसे कोई जानवर नहीं मिला, तो भूख प्यास से पीड़ित होकर वह रात्रि में जलाशय के तट पर एक वृक्ष के पास जा पहुंचा। जहां उसे शिवलिंग के दर्शन हुए। अपने शरीर की रक्षा करने के लिए निषादराज नें एक बिल्व वृक्ष की आड़ ले ली। इस क्रम में उस वृक्ष के पत्ते टूट कर शिवलिंग पर जा गिरे।
तब उसने उन पत्तों को हटाकर शिवलिंग के ऊपर स्थित धूल को दूर करने के लिए जल से शिवलिंग को साफ कर दिया। तभी उसके तरकश एक बाण निकल कर शिवलिंग के पास गिर गया। उसे बार को उठाने के लिए उसने शिवलिंग के पास घुटने भी टेके और सर भी झुकाया। इस प्रकार अनायास ही उससे रात्रि जागरण, शिवलिंग का अभिषेक, स्पर्श और पूजन भी हो गया। कुछ समय पश्चात जब निषादराज की मृत्यु हुई तब यमराज के दूत उसको पाश में बांधकर यमलोक ले जाने लगे। तब शिवजी के गणों नें युद्ध करके उस निषादराज को यमपाश से मुक्त करा लिया। इस प्रकार से वह निषादराज अपने कुत्तों के साथ शिव के प्रिया गणों में शामिल हो गया। इस प्रकार शिवरात्रि के पावन पूजन से मनुष्य को मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है और शिव की कृपा मिलती है।

01. Why do we celebrate Shivaratri?
Although Shivaratri occurs on the Chaturdashi date of all the 12 Krishna Pakshas in a year, but the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Falgun month is called “Maha Shivaratri”. And in our Puranas, the great significance of “Maha Shivaratri” has been described. According to Linga Purana, it was on this day that Lord Mahadev separated himself from the formless form and manifested himself in the form of Jyotirlinga.
It is also believed that on this day Lord Ashutosh Shiva drank the poison Halahal that came out of the churning of the ocean and placed it in his throat and was called Neelkanth Mahadev. According to the popular belief of Shiva Purana, on this day Lord Shiva married Mother Parvati, then all the devotees celebrated the festival by staying awake all night. Hence this tradition of celebrating Mahashivratri started. The description of the holy festival of Mahashivratri is found in almost all the Puranas. A beautiful balance of all the three qualities, Sat, Raj and Tam, is established on Shivratri and salvation is sought by worshipping, chanting, fasting and donating to the entire Shiv family.
02. Auspicious worship time?
According to the Panchangs, the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month will start on Wednesday, February 26 at 11:08 am and will end on the next day, Thursday, February 27 at 08:54 am. There is a rule of night worship on Mahashivratri, so Mahadev will be worshipped on the night of February 26. Although, worship and havan etc. will continue from the morning of February 26 to the morning of February 27.
03. Auspicious worship time after sunset?
01. Worship of the first prahar will be from 06:19 pm to 09:26 pm on February 26.
02. The time for the second prahar puja is from 09:26 pm on 26 February to 12:34 midnight on 27 February.
03. The time for the third prahar puja is from 12:34 midnight on 27 February to 03:41 am.
04. The time for the fourth prahar puja is from 03:41 am to 06:48 am on 27 February.
04. Auspicious time for the worship of Jalabhishek on Mahadev?
On the day of Mahashivratri, Jalabhishek on Lord Shri Sambasdashiv Mahadev has special significance. The following are the auspicious times for Jalabhishek on 26 February 2025.
Water can be offered in the first Muhurta from 06:45 am to 09:42 am.
In the second Muhurta, water can be offered from 11:06 am to 12:35 pm.
In the third Muhurta, water can be offered from 03:25 pm to 06:10 pm.
In the fourth Muhurta, water can be offered from 09:00 pm to 12:01 pm.
05. Importance of Mahashivratri festival from astrological point of view?
This time Shivratri has special importance because, this year, the last bath of Kumbh Mahaparva, which is being held after about 144 years, will be on the new moon day of Shivratri. Since Lord Shiva himself is the lord of Chaturdashi Tithi, that is why the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of every month is known as Masik Shivratri.
And the Chaturdashi Tithi of Phalgun month is known as Mahashivratri. This date is considered extremely auspicious, because at this time the Sun has already moved to the north and the season is also changing. The Moon is in a weak position during Chaturdashi Tithi. And because Bholenath himself is wearing the Moon on his forehead, the Moon also becomes strong by worshipping Lord Bholenath and gives auspicious results.
For all zodiac signs, the sufferings caused by the nine planets, Shani’s Dhaiya, Sadhesati, Mahadasha, Antardasha, Rahu-Ketu’s suffering, Kaal Sarp Dosh, Pitru Dosh etc. can be easily mitigated by the Rudra Abhishek done on this day and chanting of Shiv Mantras. On this day, reciting Shri Sukta and Rudra Sukta while performing Abhishek on Shivling will be especially fruitful.
06. Story of the worship of Shivratri fast?
According to Shri Shiv Mahapuran, many years ago, a Nishad king named Sundarsen lived in Arbud Desh. Once he went hunting with his dogs in the forest. Even after working hard the whole day, he did not find any animal. Suffering from hunger and thirst, he reached a tree on the bank of a reservoir at night. Where he saw a Shivling. To protect his body, Nishadraj took cover behind a Bilva tree. In this process, the leaves of that tree broke and fell on the Shivling.
Then he removed those leaves and cleaned the Shivling with water to remove the dust on the Shivling. Then an arrow came out of his quiver and fell near the Shivling. To pick it up, he knelt down near the Shivling and also bowed his head. In this way, he unintentionally stayed awake all night, anointed, touched and worshipped the Shivling. After some time, when Nishadraj died, the messengers of Yamraj tied him in a noose and started taking him to Yamlok. Then Shiva’s followers fought and freed Nishadraj from the noose of Yam. In this way, Nishadraj along with his dogs joined the beloved followers of Shiva. In this way, by worshipping Shivaratri, man attains salvation and gets the blessings of Shiva.
